Looking to upgrade (But terrible at building these days)

Was hoping to upgrade my current gaming PC, but these days i’m not going to lie I don’t know much about them. I’m looking to play games such as GTAV, Call of Duty BO3 & WW2 on Ultra Settings?

My current specs are:

NVIDIA GTX 650 Ti 1GB
AMD 4100 FX
8GB DDR3 RAM

I have been PC gaming for years now however i’m looking to play games for the current generation

These can run older games fairly well but since everything has changed since then considering I got my PC about 5 years ago, I think it’s time to upgrade.

I know that no PC is “future proof” because all games are getting more demanding, but just for the present it would be great

I have no need for HDDs since I have a few already & I don’t need a monitor nor do I need an optical drive,

What’s the cheapest pre built PC I can buy that can match the sort of specs i’m after?

I’m new to this forum so forgive me if I haven’t given enough detail,

Thanks!

you will need a cpu and gpu upgrade if you wanting to play those settings for those games even if you went to the 6 or 8 core fx it be an improvement, then you will need at least the old 970.

something like this:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Vision VR Gaming PC - Intel 8th Generation 3.6GHz Quad Core = £853.03
    • Processor:Intel Core i5-8400 2.8GHz (Coffee Lake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail
    • Memory:Team Group Vulcan T-Force 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C14 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Grey (TLGD416G24
    • Graphics Card:*Build Stock* Palit GeForce GTX 1060 Dual 6144MB GDDR5 Graphics Card
    • Solid State Drive:Unwanted
    • CPU Cooler:Unwanted
    • Case:Phanteks Eclipse P400 Midi Tower Case - Black Window
    • WIFI:Unwanted
Total: £867.13 (includes shipping: £14.10)

if you don't need windows or hdd, might be worth asking ocuk to remove those and see how much you'll save

Wow thanks man! That’s quite a nice combo there, will look into that!

Yeah because 4 core is just fairly sluggish and having only 1GB of VRAM is impossible to work with in this day and age haha.

if you know your way around screw driver/ swapped parts before/dont mind watching some youtube

if not, build above is a cracking price!

That is very good actually, i’ve heard them Ryzen’s are insane if you get a good one! Only thing is i’ve only swapped my GPU & CPU and added a hdd and that’s about it, I have no clue about the thermal paste and stuff like that aha, please forgive me!

Thanks

your pretty much most of the way there ! haha. stock cooler already has paste applied on it if i can remember- you just insert the CPU and lock it like like your current chip. Remove brackets pre-installed on the board, place cooler and top- screw it in and connect fan cable :)

new versions and boards out on the 19th just after lunch time but will cost a bit more along with only releasing flasgship boards for the time being . wasn't sure on your budget so just went in lowest as can be with good performance

to be fair, even the budget entry Ryzen 1200/2200g 4 core and 4 thread smashes your current entry FX CPU so save more pennies etc etc

Yeah man that’s excellent! The budget wasn’t really an issue since i’m considering financing, I don’t usually finance anything but I think financing a gaming pc is a fairly good idea, especially as i’d just pay the most monthly to let it be over quicker.

In terms of the parts, would I just keep my current pc but just swap the motherboard, ram, cpu & gpu? Is that what you’re saying?

Thanks

just another option - 3rd would be full rebuild by yourself .

if you could list your other parts like drives and power supply, case etc - should be able to get some help .

another key aspect is screen... you could finance a GTX 1080 Ti monster but then still have a standard 1080p and then realise the cost to truly take into effect of the new PC is just as much haha :D

I would love to, but have absolutely no clue how to go about it,

I purchased a Vibox GA PC back in 2011,
Then upgraded the power supply, RAM added a second hdd & upgraded the CPU aswell as the GPU, that’s all I knew what to do ahah

I can try and get some more info for you when I get home from work to give you a better idea of my current setup.
