I often wonder what would happen if our global financial system crashed (properly). If no one had any money.You expect 40% - 80% of the worlds population to be killed off in 35 years? Wow.
As far as I can tell, if we suddenly had no currency, we'd all starve.
Don't even need a war. If we no longer had usable currency, everybody would starve in a very short period of time.
We are so dependent on money that we could not return to a barter system before people started. People would simply riot and steal everything, and then starve anyhow.
Without money, I can't see any other result than billions dying.
Well it's 2 minutes to midnight. Stop. Russia do play the bluff a lot. Seriously doubt they have to will to start a war. Stop. They are trying to rebuild the old Soviet empire they once had. That's their main goal just now rather than nuke war. Stop. Trump to make decision on Syrian response today or tomorrow. Stop.
Eh?? I’m sure it’s entirely possible to live off the land if currency suddenly became invalid.
I don’t think there would be mass starvation.

Not in Britain. We can't produce enough food to carry the population here and we are dependent on imported food.
We would have to drastically alter our eating habits, we would probably all have to become vegetarian overnight as the land used for farming animals must be turned over to plant crops to feed hungry mouths.
Fortunately it will be the city dwellers who die off first, I'll be fine.
The problem with a world war now is first deciding what format that war will play out in. Are you imagining men, machines, and missiles? nuclear? geeks at computers? biological? Political?
Considering some of those options could we already be at war and not even realise?
With technology levels as it is now the safest means of war would be a mixture of political, cyber and biological, genetic warfare. Create a virus that targets specific DNA traits as well as a cure. Sneak the virus into a chosen country and let it start to spread. Cyber attacks for disruption of medical services/news/etc. Focus the news on political issues/conflict as a diversion while it spreads.

Erm. The soil ? And I’m sure the community would unite to transport the veg around the country. (There are loads of refrigerated lorry’s on Britain’s roads)
I mean, I’m no expert but I’m pretty sure if you gave me a plot of soil/allotment I could easily survive on home grown veg etc.

Especially here. I just don't see where we would get that "Blitz Spirit" from. There's no sign that everyone would band together and get through it, I can only see mass looting and martial law with the way people are now.

They'd all be put up against a wall for treason. I think looting during war time is still a capital offense here. As in the Military Police will shoot you on sight.

Have to rely on the good nature of people. Has there not been a time or conflict in history where money was put aside and people worked together for the greater good. Probably not. I don't know.

I’m hoping the nation would come together as a whole, in the hard times to overcome something like starvation. I think people could and would pool together if there were families literally starving (I’d hope so anyway)

sure. maybe. assuming you got the seeds, assuming you've got the stockpile to live off whilst waiting for your first crop. assuming that crop doesn't fail. assuming no one steals it from your allotment overnight.
