That sort of behavior is when i start paying homeless people to vandalize his property.
no don't give him 32p. it's that 'ah **** it' attitude that lets clowns like this exist in the first place.....he'll have done this sort of thing before and got away with it which is why he's trying it on again. screw him......his email would be getting signed up to every adult fetish weird sex site i could find!!
Staying in for a day off work because you knew it would be next day delivery perhaps?

Can you not start something and ebay will the message between you two, which should help get it settled.
How can they refund his postage costs, postage was free? This chancer is asking for a refund for something he didn't actually pay for.

i love how people on here always blame ebay like thats the problem.
there are "plonkers" like this all over the place, the reason you hear about them on ebay more is because its the biggest auction site so the place you are most likely to be able to shift your stuff quickly.
everybody knows about it, its even advertised on TV now its gotten that big.
You will get plonkers/idiots/chancers/scammers its the nature of the beast.
I suppose the only thing you can do to apportion blame to ebay is there "buyer is right until proved wrong policy", but there are ways for a seller to protect themselves against this somewhat.
I have limited selling experience on ebay but as far I can remember all transactions went smoothly, I have bought around 1500 items on there however and encountered a couple of idiots on those transactions during my 10 year tenure on the site.
I recently sold a faulty iphone on there (advertised as such
) and due to posts on this very forum was super super paranoid, so went over the top to protect myself against a scammer, when in actualy fact the transaction went smoothly with no issues whatsoever.

If you pay for Courier A, and supplier used Courier B instead, if you still get the item when expected - no loss incurred.
Fairly sure every courier company has in their terms and conditions that subsequently incurred losses are not covered. Most of them will only refund for NBD or "before 12" type services, and some only partial refund at that.
You would have to go legal to get that sort of claim paid.
In this case, the OP paid for the postage, the buyer didn't.
The OP provided an estimate delivery date not a guaranteed date.
So their losses are exactly Zero, nil, zilch, zip.
I had a similar dispute with an eBay buyer who was messaging me about a drone I sold, the controller wouldn't charge fully which was explained in the listing. He claimed that the drone was faulty and that he wanted a full refund, then he wanted me to buy a new controller and send it to him. eBay gave him a refund and he then sent abusive messages to me telling me he wasn't going to send it back and then he left me negative feedback.
After contacting eBay & PayPal they reversed the transaction, took the funds off him and removed the negative feedback he'd left, which he sent me some more abusive messages about, claiming he had lost out! Seemed very childish, telling me how he suffered with depression and that I was a horrible person! Some strange people out there, I signed him up to receive some car brochures, blocked him and reported him to eBay and HMRC as he was clearly running a business from his eBay account yet not registered as a business seller. It really does seem in the last year there are so many eBay buyers that are incredibly stupid and when the item is received they argue and ask for technical support over it all, I had that twice last year and now I'll use the MM if I want to sell something. Sadly I think it's down to the feedback system they have where sellers only have the option of leaving positive feedback, the buyers then feel they can do whatever the hell they like.

Exactly, seen quite a few MM deals go south as well. You will encounter muppets at some point in almost every situation.
As been suggested, talk to ebay right away, explain the position and i'm sure this matter will be closed quickly.

I can't remember what site it was on, I found a spam email test on him, left it running for a good few hours so hopefully it filled his inbox!
I didn't mention anything about postage costs.
My point was that unless the seller sends an item using either signed for and/or tracked service, the seller will almost always lose any cases if and when the buyer files an item not received case.
A Cheque is a worthless piece of paper amounting to an IOU, it is not 'as good as cash' in any way.
Until it clears, it is scrap paper.
Would you accept a cheque instead of cash if you sold something face to face to a total stranger ?
