Wearing a stab proof vest and carrying self defense for work

A bin lid makes for a fantastic shield and a colinder gaffa taped to your head a great helmet.

Okay so for work, I'm out in city centres unlocking and getting into banks at 2-9pm or even mid night. I pick up stuff (not money) then I'm back out, alarm and lock up and then into my Merc Vito and off I go probably smashing close to 106 MPH.

that's pretty dumb, you're actively increasing the chances of injury to yourself and others while ironically supposedly trying to reduce risk in another area

yes you can wear a stab vest, no you can't carry a weapon, but you can use something as a weapon that you happen to be carrying for another purpose

yes you could perhaps carry a big torch - D cell maglite etc.. (or even a small torch to use as a kubotan) - it is a bit more plausible if you're doing so in the early evening or early morning and not in the middle of the day - I'm sure plenty of security guards working night shifts happily carry them

there do exist self defence sprays that don't harm people but just mark them with red ink etc.. not sure on the legality of them but the manufacturers seem to think they're legal

a sturdy pen or even a simple bic pen from your top pocket can be thrust into someone's neck, eyes, between their ribs etc.. if you're really in trouble - an old man killed a burglar with (apparently a screwdriver) recently though tbh.. you might be better off in such a situation just handing over the goods, if it is your life at risk... it isn't like you're at home with your wife dealing with a burglary but are just transporting property with no sentimental value that is probably insured anyway...

I've already got a flashlight baton but it looks like a baton with a tourch. I would only have it in the van to be honest. My aim is for protection but without being illegal.

Ribbed for their pleasure? :p

that is just silly, it is obviously designed to be used as a weapon, I doubt the police or CPS would be too happy at all

likewise I'd be skeptical about the smaller torches explicitly sold as "self defence" torches

just get a sturdy torch not explicitly marketed in that way - the D cell mag-lites already mentioned could be used as a baton, a smaller mag-lite as a kubotan... some of the other smaller torches like surefire etc.. are very bright too and could be used as both a kubotan and simply shone into someone's eyes at night to distract/temporarily blind them

Since you work at night, for example, you might want to have a torch handy. A really heavy duty torch. One that won't break if dropped or if it rolls around in the back of your van. One with lots of heavy duty batteries in it, so you can rely on it for bright light for quite a while. It would be quite long, quite thick, quite heavy and very robustly built. Like a club...but it's not a weapon at all. It's a tool that you have a perfectly good reason to carry when you're working. If someone tries to stab you, is rather surprised when the stabbing has no effect and you take that opportunity to hit them with your torch to stop them trying again, no problems there.

I absolutely loved this.

This is a job for a S&W 500 Mag - with the big Trex rounds.
Just show any would be assailant a picture of this, say on a printout from the web, and they will fill there breeks and run for mummy instantly.
Chat is this even works on Putin.

Show any assailant your OCUK Approved Boxing Stance Level 9000+ certificate and Golden Letterbox Award and they will turn and burn at 107.

Actually sounds like a bank robber asking what could be used for self defence, especially with the driving at 106mph part.

Mithril chainmail armour, 4D maglite, memory foam mattress for back of the van so the birds don’t bounce around too much and a selection of turtle wax air fresheners in every fragrance, then your all set
