Just wondering what im doing wrong. New install of windows 8700k z370 asus hero x . I can set the boot priority to the w10 usb. Loads up goes through all the stages. Then asks for a restart, but instead of continuing to proceed starts me back at the begining again. To re enter language, serial key ect.

Last time i did this it was straight forward. Trying to put it on a fresh samsung ssd. Have not loaded the disk on account of no disk drive. Never needed to last time on a gigabyte also wondering if it is anything to do with putting it in ahci mode which i can not find the option. Any suggestions of what im missing doing would be appriciated.

Don't set your boot priority to the usb stick, manually pick it from the boot list and when it restarts you'll boot off the SSD / HDD.

Thanks. I'll give that a go. Went to watch charlton away last night so did not get a chance to install it. But something else i have noticed is that it only picks up detects.1 stick of ram. When i got the box there was no seal the board was not in a static bag. The ram slot in question has a looser clip with no tension like the others. It was also in the open position.im wondering if the board is a return.

Just in passing it is always wise to check the boot priority during the initial stages and remove anything that you don't want from the sequence. So before you install windows remove everything apart from the USB. Then stop it as it reboots and change the only boot device to your SSD. The reason is that a BIOS can get confused and start installing boot managers and so in if it is not presented with a simple choice. In your case it does sound like the boot order is incorrect. Particularly with new PC's the M.2 sockets are sometimes last so it will choose to try to boot from a SATA drive rather than an M.2 drive. This is fine unless your SATA is from an old PC .... that can really confuse the BIOS! So, like I say, best to tell it exactly what it can and can not boot from in the BIOS.

Yes I think it can get confused. Some other odd thing. I have kinda sorted it for now. It seemed to install or write all the files it wanted to ready for the next stage of the instillation. What i tried was putting my old C drive SSD in. This just just worked off the bat with a new MB and CPU socket. Did not expect that. Im still using it for now with a spare SSD waiting for a use.
