Best GPU for 1080p 144hz

I have a 27" 1080p 144hz Gsync monitor with a 6gb GTX 1060. just wondered what the optimum card would be for this that's currently out. I doubt I will upgrade until new cards came out.. it just to give me an idea. ie 1070 1070ti 1080

For 144hz a 1080 would be a good call. If it's gsync then maybe drop to a 1070Ti but 1080 is probably the better call.

Also,dependent on the game you are playing you will need to check if you might hit a CPU bottleneck too,especially if its poorly optimised one!!

Depends which games you play. Some games can't really hit 144fps very often, even at 1080p.

The best would have course be the 1080ti, but seems like a wasted pairing unless 144/240fps must be maintained.

I would say a 1080ti just for future proofing

Even a 1080ti will struggle to maintain 144fps in some titles. It's a lot more demanding than you'd think, plus the CPU plays a bigger role at higher refresh rates.

I ran a 1070 on a MG279Q monitor no problem.
