I bought a 1080 strix locally for a decent price just to have a decent card to game whenever

however I was talking to the guy who said he bought the card off his friend who mined ( this will be mean something later on )

anyway on the box it says 1080 strix advanced edition

but just above the pcie slot on the actual card it says GTX1080-OC8G-GAMING ?

the bios is AG which from what I understand is the lower TDP bios which could have been flashed for mining etc & he could have mixed the boxes up if he had surplus 1080 strix.

couldn't find much about the ''OC8GB'' IF it is a OC version cool I will flash the bios back just wanted to ask because I know a lot of people love the strix brand and are usually knowledgeable in the area.

:)

Use the Asus software to check clock speeds and see if it's in OC or not. I'd be more inclined to trust the factory applied sticker than the box. Maybe get someone to supply a copy of their cards BIOS if they have the same model and re-flash if you think there's a problem

Asus spec page says :
OC Mode - GPU Boost Clock : 1936 MHz , GPU Base Clock : 1784 MHz
Gaming Mode (Default) - GPU Boost Clock : 1898 MHz , GPU Base Clock : 1759 MHz
*Retail goods are with default Gaming Mode, OC Mode can be adjusted with one click on GPU Tweak II

And for the AG card :

OC Mode - GPU Boost Clock : 1835 MHz , GPU Base Clock : 1695 MHz
Gaming Mode (Default) - GPU Boost Clock : 1809 MHz , GPU Base Clock : 1670 MHz
*Retail goods are with default Gaming Mode, OC Mode can be adjusted with one click on GPU Tweak II
