Basically I'm looking for a 1440p 144hz 27" monitor Between 300 and 400 pounds but the only one I can find is the Acer XG270HU. But I really cant get over that red bezel. I just can't get on board with it. Won't suit my setup at all. Why they went with red is beyond me but hey ho.

This is the Acer XG270HU

Surely a different manufacturer uses this same panel??

I can't help but notice that all the reviews for monitors I am looking at (1440p / 144hz) are from like 2015. Has nothing advanced since then? I can only find "old" monitors. And they actually used to be cheaper!? Why are monitors not more readily available and dropping in price.

I am looking at the same problem as you. It looks you can't get 120/144Hz 1440p and 27" all in one unit at that price range you have to pick 2 of 3, which you can achieve for n £300. The liyama ones are a perfect example choose 1080p and 144Hz or 1440p and 60Hz both £299. If you are going to be limited to 60Hz it feels like you might as well get the 28" 4K for £369 (although from another posting I made I gather this is not the thing to do).

The £450 AOC monitor doesn't seem that bad:

However at that price your within striking distance of the G sync monitors prices. Its feels like you need to stretch but are not getting enough benefit for doing so.

No right answers only, a bunch close answers, Personally, I am leaning towards sacrificing frame rate, as you do that anyway by going higher res

I just posted this in another thread but out of respect for your detailed answer I thought I would fill you in.

I bought a ROG swift PG278Q last night off flumtree for 300. Ticks all the boxes, loving it so far. OK its not IPS. but you can't have everything. It has decent enough colours anyway. And you get used to what you have.

That's a great price for what you get. How are you finding G-Sync?

So, I'm not sure I "notice it" yet per say. Reason being I used to use vsync. So never had screen tearing, and always had 60fps.

I guess the question would be how are you finding the input lag. As I believe vsync introduces a lot of input lag.

Answer to that is that I haven't had enough time to notice yet. Also at 35 years old. Not entirely sure I will :)

Don't even really notice the FPS above 60hz yet. I'm sure I will. I've heard a lot of people say they notice it most when going back to 60 rather than when going up.

Overall I am happy with the purchase.
I would have felt a bit deflated had I paid >£500 for the monitor. But paying 300 and knowing it won't devalue that much, I think it's a good buy.
