Almost a year since Charlie Gard and here we are again, same media circus, same rent a mob protesters, same vulnerable parents being manipulated by people with neither the full facts or a childs best interests at heart even got the same Vatican sticking their oar in again!

None of this does the poor child in question, the parents, the hospital and staff any good at all.
 
well there are seemingly people on there way to the hospital for oxygen tanks, posts on Facebook about how he should hold the baby to his skin to regulate the breathing, posts about grabbing one of the oxygen tanks on the wall and shoving a tube up his nose etc... they're still seemingly under the impression that the consultants are wrong and somehow the hospital are just heartless people who want to kill him etc..

Their minds are too simple to grasp the fact life isn't black and white.
 
The guy has crossed a line publishing the names of doctors. I can sort of understand getting caught up in it and then having the utter ***** at the CLC bankrolling them into doing whatever is best politically for them, but when you start breaking the law yourself then there has to be consequences.

The parents don't have rights here, that's the bit that people get tripped up on. The duty of the medical staff is to the patient, if they feel that moving them is not in the best interests of the patient then the parents wishes don't count for jack.

It's the same reason people aren't just allowed to ask for the child to be discharged so they can walk out with them, if the medical staff don't think it's in the best interests of the patient. This isn't like a power of attorney type situation.
 
The supporter groups are a bit odd

they've got the usual people spamming the same messages about everyone praying, take 10 breaths for Alfie and channel your energy etc.. some crazy American anti-vac woman who has decided that this is all the result of vaccinations and several bouts of fake news... supposedly after 30 minutes the doctors were supposed to intervene but because they didn't they're murderers or something and now there was some countdown to the 5 hour mark where something else is supposed to happen...

Something that really frightens me. This thinking that doing the best for your child involves fighting everybody no matter what, fighting all sense and reason and generating this farcical situation where no one cares about the kid it’s just a bandwagon to jump on blindly. Even the sodding Pope likes to chip in.
 
Let them take him, i imagine somewhere around year 5 of looking after him 24/7 the marriage will collapse sand around year 10 one of them will smother him
 
A lot of modern day heartbreak, hiatus and hysteria used to be prevented in the fifties and sixties by practically minded maternity ward doctors and sisters who recognised an un viable birth when they saw one, and registered it "still born". This whole spectacle is unedifying, costly and distasteful in the extreme.
 
Wonder how much worse the parents have made this for themselves.

Pretty sure both sides of grandparents here lost a child. They had more children and aside from close family no one knows. Mentioned approximately never.

But when you spin tragedy like this into a media circus the stickiness of such publicity will haunt you.

Now for the next... forever... they will be exposed to opportunities to have this brought up by total strangers over and over and over.

No, Alfie isn't fighting, hes a vegetable being kept alive by machines. Should just let the kid go. It's heartbreaking to see them continuing his suffering.
 
It's sick and the parents need a wake up call.
I'm not a parent.
I'm also know he is brain-dead. It's over. Accept it and move on.
 
Having first hand experience of this, it's a disgrace and these people should be told to leave the hospital. The parents should be done for bringing it all to and in the hospital.
It's a horrible atmosphere there no respect for other parents that are going through the same or worse.
Parents are having a hard time getting into the ICU ward because of them and have no quiet area to take a breather when they get bad news.
Makes me laugh when they say they're at his side constantly, well except when there right outside the doors smoking right under they no smoking sign because they think they're untouchable. Staff are scared of telling them off because he just films then and stick it on the internet. Abusing staff and making everyone feel unsafe that people are leaving via back entrances.
Poor child, but I have zero sympothy or respect for the parents and family. Horrible people.

The hospital and staff are amazing and go above and beyond for the patients and families.
 
I don't agree with the parents but I understand their position on this and why they fought the order. However rather disgusted at all the outsiders who have used this as a stage for their own views and acting against what is best for the child.
