Zotac 1080ti AMP Extreme - Fans revving issue

Noticed whilst gaming ive been hearing the cards fans revving on a regular basis. Seems to happen either when temps drop and rise above 45c. Can be quite annoying.

I've seen that the cooler will deactivate the fans under a certain temperature which is a neat feature, but can help think that this could be part of the issue?

I've heard a custom fan curve can be a good workaround for this (using EVGA precision XOC atm. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction here, or are we looking at an RMA?

Thanks

If you are talking about the stop start fan ramp up, it is the factory set fan curve, don't RMA it!

I set a custom fan curve on my 1070 Amp Extreme that enabled 0-60c at 0% fan then a sharp curve 30%@61c going to 100%@85c, afaik, it's never reached temps above 67c.

Your 80Ti is going to run hotter than my 70 so you might want to increase the upper temp limit a bit if you need to, but the 60c was the magic no. to cut out the needless stop start fan ramping.

Hah. And I remember people saying Zotac had fixed the revving issue on the 1080Ti. A 1070 I had a couple of year ago did the same thing and the 900 series before it also. Don’t get why they don’t make a proper bios.

As mentioned I used afterburner to make my own profile and it worked fine.

Its sorted guys im using firestorm atm. Ive completely disabled the feature altogether. I have the fans running constant now. They run at 30% on idle and about 80% under load on C3 and FC5. Temps haven't gone above 65c as of yet.

Might try Afterburner and just use Firestorm to play with the LED features etc.

They do need to make a proper Bios however.

Why not use afterburner. Have fans off when not gaming then for it to turn on once it hits 50-55C?

I agree, they definitely need a new BIOS. Their 5 year warranty is the only thing I find appealing about Zotac to be honest. But next time I will be giving them a miss. Rather have 3-4 years warranty elsewhere.

Yes, going to give afterburner a go tonight. Although Firestorm isn't bad. Lacks a few features but decent still.

My fans start spinning up at 45c. Or Rev should i say before dropping. Dont mean to sound like a noob. Id just set the curve at 30% fan speed at 45c then whola?

So far so good with afterburner.

Here is my Curve. I've set the fans to come on after 48c.

However. I still get an initial "Rev" to 77% when loading FC5, am i missing something here? After that its fine, fans turn on and off with no revving.

Pulling my hair out with this a bit now. It still revving. Could someone post a SS of there fan curve for there Zotac card maybe? Be appreciated.

I use firestorm and have it at 0% until 50 and then 40% for the rest. A side note is I have to have firestorm open for it to work otherwise it will rev, maybe resorts to default without it open. My 1080 Amp Extreme plus has a max 1400rpm at 40%. I did try to to have it increase as temps rose but found it revs and makes an annoying noise, so choose to start fans at 50 as that means I’m gaming and 40% fans is not enough to get it under 50 so fans just stay at a constant speed which I can’t hear.

The only way I could stop the revving up on my 980ti amp was to set a constant 35% speed from 0-60 degrees then slowly ramp up afterwards up to a max of about 60%.

At 35% the fans are not really audible, and it keeps the idle temps well down too

I've disabled the fan stop feature in Firestorm. And now have the fans permanently running in MSI afterburner. 30% at 30c, cant hear it at all.

Seems like you can disable it then exit Firestorm and it wont revert. Which is good

Thanks for the suggestions guys, il keep you updated on how it goes.
