Can I use this pump / reservoir combo as a reservoir only?

Hey all,

1st time poster here. Quick question regarding the following product: XSPC Photon 270
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/xspc-d5-photon-270-tube-reservoir-v2-wc-42h-xs.html

Can this be used as a stand alone reservoir, or does there have to be a pump mounted to the bottom?

Sorry if this is a silly question, just confused as the V1 variant seems to be a stand alone res, but you can not get that any more. Where as the V2 looks like it needs a pump on the bottom.

Thanks

Just had mine delivered (with the pump) yesterday, it certainly is a very good looking setup, feels solid as well. Definitely needs a pump though :)

That Res will only take the D5 pump, which can be bought from different manufacturers under their own name but it's essentially the same pump, but it now comes in 2 flavours, manual speed dial or PWM, personally I much prefer the manual model, set & forget :)

You could braid the cables and then hide them the best you can?

Think some of the PWM ones come with braided cables?

Thanks, the braided cable is a good shout. I see Overclockers do an X4 pump for £25. Is this worth a look at?
Also don't suppose you could measure how far out the pump protrudes over the resvoir its self? Space is very tight in my case gah!

Thanks!

Also looking at the pictures, the Photon 270 reservoir looks different for the D5 than it does to the X4, so not sure they are cross compatible without doing so research?
