Hi guys,

I'm after a new cooler as I think my new case is going to get super warm... I currently have a noctua low profile cooler on my ryzen 1600x that came with the motherboard and cpu..

but now I'm thinking I want a try out a RGB 240 RAD CPU Cooler,

I've seen some really nice ones I like, especially the gamemax one (I know tacky brand but still)

The only issue is all the ones i like don't fit am4? they seem to fit everything but AM4 sockets :(

The price of an RGB 240mm Liquid CPU Cooler for an AM4 socket seems to be insane,

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? is there some kind of insane price to liquid rgb cool these sockets or can i buy some form of adapter to make the ones I seen work?

Many thanks guys

£70 AIO.

Nearly gaurntee your noctua will be better. Get better air flow around your case.

My room is about 25c just now, overclocked and on the stock cooler and it's sitting about 45 idle.

If your doing it for aesthetics then fair enough, but I doubt you'll notice a difference in temps.

It's a low profile Noctua though, so performance won't be as good as say a DH-15.

I do agree however - quality air coolers will match AIOs in many cases. A cheap AIO will certainly not offer guaranteed improvement. It won't hurt to try it in the new case first, then buy a different cooler if you deem it necessary.

Yeah but I bet it's better than the stock cooler, which is fine.

Yeah more for looks than anything tbh

@DomBruv

this is an AIO, not Aluminum CLC

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £79.99 (includes shipping: £0.00)

360 x 25mm version can handle 5ghz 8700k, this will be able to handle any ryzen fine

would have done 120 but 240 is £4 more on sale. basically means your fans can run very slow rpm !

That's really cool, is this RGB as well?

Is anything else needed for it to fit my ryzen? I don't need any adapters or anything?

Like i say i really want RGB,

what about the SOPLAY Liquid Water Cooling CPU Cooler 12cm Dual Adjustable? on the site I'm not allowed to mention

The one I really want is the Game Max Iceberg 240mm CPU Closed Loop Water Cooler but it doesn't list AM4 :(

how to apply RGB tastefully in my opinion , take on good AIO or Air cooler and apply phanteks Halo RGB fan covers, either standard or digital and you end up with something like ...

AOnpO99.jpg

thats silent loop which alphacool is the OEM but using bequiets own fans for a nice pretty effect . but costs start to creep up from cheap to £££

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £103.84 (includes shipping: £0.00)

if your board hasnt got RGB header then you'll need Cooler Master RGB control box to hook these up

under air

digital kit

Like i say i really want RGB,
A good air cooler is better value for performance and dependability. Look at cooler of interest's compatibility specs. Most new coolers fit AM4. Only Threadripper is problematic. You can have RGB or you can have cool and quiet, your choice. Why not get cool and quiet, then get Phanteks Halos for the cooler or case fans to satisfy that bling monkey on your back? :D That way you will have good cooling and bling RGB lighting.

yes, you are putting looks above function. I would go for a 280 or 360 over a 240mm.

Its not the fans i want to light up mate its the unit that sits on the CPU i want to light up,

I'm not too bothered about how loud it is or performance, there will be 6 fans in my case as well

And this is why peripheral companies are churning out tacky RGB crap, rather than classy functioning units at a cheaper price ;)

Tbh i think the KRAKEN M22 AIO WATER COOLING UNIT - 120MM is for me

Be nice if they did a 240 one though but I can't find anything that looks as cool on the CPU.

And I'm all about looks ;)
