Good evening all!

First time posting got told to pop on here as ive been told you're a helpful bunch,

Im a total novice when it comes to computer building and everything else apart from playing on a pc, Last week my graphics card died on me but as ive had it over 9 years im not really surprised..However when removing the old card I unclipped the pcie and when wiggling my gpu out I've managed to rip the whole pcie slot out and thus being left with exposed pins!.

As my GPU is an i7 3770k @3.50GHz overclocked to 3.90 GHz I've been told my processor will only fit into motherboards with the LGA1155 socket.. And well they don't really make those any more. So im left in a situation of do I replace the motherboard processor and graphics card. Or is it just going to be easier to get a new build as im rather useless at building.

The rig would only be used for pretty much World of warcraft/Pubg and general internet stuff

Any suggestions would be amazing, I've been looking at parts/pre builds but im terrible at knowing if the parts im looking at would be able to run the game on good settings

Thanks

Not sure if they are able to repair , but might be worth asking @GIGA-Man / gigabyte if they could repair it or quite you for repair.

Not sure how much your board goes for online .

Just another line of thought

Also what graphics card have you currently got ?

theres plenty of 1155 based systems on the used market for cheap, some will have worse processors than yours meaning you could find a bargain and swap your i7 in to it, dont know how some of the boards would compare to what you have, but that would depend what your board offers that you find useful, plenty of boards will support overclocking. what gpu did you have too? a new system would be good still if you have anything to salvage to keep costs down.

gtx 670 But as far as im concerned thats also gone out the window, Thus me taking it out of the tower in the first place kept getting fracturing and it crashing out

Tl;dr its looking like im going to just go for a full new pc as its probably gonna be easier in the long term for upgrading and so on. I've been looking at pre built ones on here, But once again like i say im a complete novice i dont know whats good enough for gaming and what not.
The only games i really play is pubg/world of warcraft, Im being pointed in the direction of going for AMD instead of intel for price but ive always only ever had intel is there much difference for someone like me and in terms of gaming?

Yeah that was my initial thought, Like my case is fine i have 16g ram which im sure is fine, Got a Corsair GS600 Power supply so it probably would only be a new motherboard/processor/Graphics card

you will be stuck with haswell to retain your ram as its ddr3, so unless you can find a comparable haswell build for a decent price, you be better off replacing with another 1155 board and while that corsair psu will do, id probably think about replacing it with something fresh.

upgrade with these and then look online for a replacement motherboard.

.

i think for a whole new build to better your processor your going to either need a kabylake 7700k or a coffeelake i5 8600k

coffeelake example:

kabylake example:

had to choose a micro atx board as the cheapest atx in stock to even consider for the 7700k is over £200

You guys have been a great help, Thanks a lot for putting up with my incompetence, Yeah budget is a bit tight at the moment with a holiday/wedding and royal ascot to pay for coming up in the space of about 2 months! But ive got a birthday coming up in august so hopefully some more funds will be coming in.

it would be more than enough, however it would be worth changing the config to this

unless you keep the windows 10 dvd in the config and then add a usb drive from the options, it would be easier with the usb windows version.

the only real issue with this pre-built is the psu will be a kolink unit which are poor.

that case doesnt have a optical drive bay meaning you wont be able to install windows or reinstall at least without buying a usb power dvd drive where as the usb stick can be used on any system with a usb port, just as simple as that.

i have had windows iso on a usb drive many times as ive always had a key, just not a disc and i myself find it better despite having dvd drives, a lot of people prefer usb also, just an easier way to install windows if you dont have a disc or a drive.

theres also this difference as well whether its from config options or diy

the usb saves you over 20 quid.
