The slightly newer shape civic is probably going to be a good compromise for you.
I had the FN2 for a while with a young baby and tbh it was a pain - could definitely have lived with it but as discussed earlier if you were to go with it be careful on the kind of seat you buy and make sure you don't try and lift the baby in and out whilst doubled over, it will kill your back.
The boot is big for the class, they're very reliable (especially the 1.8), rear space is good however the doors are quite small so make sure you aren't going to be trying to lump a massive car seat in and out all the time.
You need to check really thoroughly for rust at the roof and pillars and buy one with some proper history.
