RAM suddenly not working at XMP profile

Specs: 1600X, Gigabyte AX370 K7, 8Pack 3200MHz 2x8GB RAM, pretty much all at stock. MB running at F10 BIOS.

So PC randomly crashed while I was browsing, and after a few tries of trying to reboot once it got in I noticed the RAM speed dropped back to 2133MHz. I went into the BIOS but turning the XMP profile back on does not work, the system will fail to boot even into BIOS and will go back to 2133MHz after a while in order to work. Tried setting the DRAM voltage manually to 1.35v but that didn't work either. Tried upping both DRAM voltage to 1.4v and SOC voltage to 1.15v but the issue still happens. Set everything back to default including XMP off, and the system boots completely fine with no issues.

Anything else I should try? Would doing a memtest help?

Did not think that for some reason, will try that later when I have time. Probably worth trying one stick at a time too.

Which actual brand of ram is it ? 8pack is not the brand ? have you tried checking them with thaipoon burner ? download the freeware version from here: http://www.softnology.biz/files.html

Run as admin to open it, then select read SPD on smbus #0 at 52h or whatever yours says, it should say at the bottom after reading that sticks info, CRC OK, if it says error, for one or the other stick, you'll have to pay for the software to fix it.

It's Team Group's 8Pack edition RAM, using Samsung B die which has been recommended to use for Ryzen: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-my-08l-tg.html

Ran the software but it says CRC ok on both sticks, although this is running at 2133MHz since I can't even boot at 3200MHz. The system was running completely fine at 3200MHz for more than half a year. Should have some time tomorrow to reseat and test both sticks.

Reseated them, popped into BIOS and turned back on XMP. And then it instantly booted into 3200MHz with no issues... Did a quick mem test as well but no errors.

Thanks everyone, hopefully it'll stay at max speed.

Strange, sounds like your bios actually got corrupt along the way somehow, if and when you have more time, reset your bios and flash it with pure stock settings, don't change anything until the flash is finished, then load cmos defaults and reboot back into the bios before making any adjustments, make sure you whatever you use to flash the bios, ie USB stick is formatted and clean first, and use one of the motherboards rear USB ports, not a header or a hub.
