I have a budget of around £4k and want to get the best I can find including a monitor, mouse and keyboard,

So .. what would be the "ULTIMATE GAMING SETUP" and future proof system, for at least 5 years, if I live that long, haha.

I don't want all the dumb comments I see in a lot of review forums where one says "what do you want it to do?" .. GAMING I said !

I also want it to last longer than 3 others I had got .. last one lasted a year and was burnt out .. I do play for up to 12 hours a day or more (I am disable so I got a lot of time).

Your thoughts now .. GO !

@JoeKerr

SLi 1080ti/ XFire Vega 64 might be overkill...

For a fairly quiet, air-cooled PC...

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,079.88 (includes shipping: £0.00)

For the monitor go for either:

27in IPS/144hz/1440p/G-Sync - £600.

Or

34in IPS/120hz/3440x1440p/G-Sync - £1100.

The choice mainly depends on which games you mainly play. For example, the ultrawide would be a great pairing for driving games, and the 144hz monitor great for fast-paced FPS games.

Your budget would allow for both though.

If I was spending that kind of money on a rig I wouldnt be buying a BitFenix PSU

The primary capacitor is a high grade 105C rated Japanese model by Nippon Chemi Con, from their KMR series to be specific. It is rated 400v 680uF. All electrolytic capacitors are rated 105c, which is good to see.

budget is a budget. personally wouldn't sink full 4k into a build including screen

@southernorth is the sensible option IMO - would prob increase it to Focus Plat rated PSU due to gaming for extreme amounts of time on a daily basis. and think second stage also has same caps as the first stage - prime series i think - overkill for us lot

I wouldn't bother with Sli, instead I'd put some money away for next gen later this year. Get 1 x 1080ti and plan to sell it.
Very few games I've played recently successfully support sli and dx12 seems to have vaporized!.
Andi.

If this system really has to last 5+ years then I'd seriously wait for the new nVidia cards that are out soon. Not only will they be generally faster than the previous gen, but they'll be skewed more towards the next gen API's too. If that isn't an option then a 8700k/1080Ti based system is a must :)

OP said his last rig burned out within a year.... to me thats extremely poor maintainance, most rigs last 3-4 if not longer. And for 12 hours a day gaming i suggest a hoover every 30 days inside the case to reduce dust build up which then can cause overheating :)

Good advice that i would like to alter, don't hoover the inside of your PC as you can damage delicate items such as trace. I will reverse the flow and say swap out that hoover for some compressed air and blow it out much safer for the hardware.

The other thing being a system really should not build up a huge amount of dust within a year so long as the fans are set up correctly and more importantly have a form of filter. You don't even need to spend a lot on this you can actually just rob a pair of your ladies tights and fashion some fan covers out of those. Works really well as a diy solution.

That's definitely a fair point about dust buildup. Most decent modern cases I've seen have dust-filters on most air intake/exhaust spaces - so the OP just needs to occasionally clear the filters.

The Meshify C I linked has an easy to clean filter on top, the bottom filter slides fully out from the front and you can safely use a hoover on the front filter.

What about those who don’t have a lady? :p
