We have a robin nest in our garden. But there are cats around everywhere.

Anyone know of any good ways to keep them out?

We already shoot the with water pistols when they come in. But looking for ideas to try to keep fledglings safe!

You can't really stop them tbh, you just have to make it inconvenient for them to get in and out. Patch the holes.

Or a dog.
Andi.

My partner (and by virtue of that I do as well) board dogs so we have dogs all the time (granted it isn’t 100% of the time but it’s frequent enough) and we still get the neighbours cat coming in.
But I’d say a dog is a good deterrent, not heard of the cd thing though, might try it.

I'm going to go for one of those sensor sound or sensor water squirters I think

Unfortunately a dog isn't viable at the moment

Damn, maybe its quite firm rather than loose?

Yea I would say its pretty tort in most places. Cats just don't care about anything though, bottles of water, cd's and all that just isn't going to work. They will stroll straight in like it isn't there :)

Wasn't there like a mythbusters about this?

Cats are more likely to get the parents than the chicks (They'll be exhausted flying food back and forth). If that happens, lookup your nearest wildlife rescue centre. Keep them warm ( shoebox, kitchen roll bedding and a hot water bottle work well) and take them in asap. They need food round the clock.

Worked incredibly well in a previous house when they kept using my front garden as a toilet.

In my last house where they kept digging up a patch of my new lawn I resorted to pepper (didn't work), chilli (didn't work), oil (didn't work, but probably ruined my neighbours sofa) and ultimately had to cover it with a net.

Also, if something does happen don't bother rescuing the chicks. It never works.
