Looking at getting a monitor arm for my 2 monitors but not sure which monitor arm to get.

I see theres a couple of styles of monitor arms. One which has the arms on a central pole and one where they come from the base.

SIMBR Dual monitor arms and Perlegear dual arms are the types that come on poles, and Duronic DMUSB52 are a type that come from the base.

Is there any benefit to either type? Im kinda leaning to the pole type as i see most top end ones use that style.

Thanks for any help

Be wary of clamps though with heavy monitors - it could kill your desk. I tried a SIMBR monitor arm and it added a nice dent to my IKEA desk.
So, you might need extra support/protection for your desk if you do decide to go for a clamp style.

I've had an All-Cam one for about a decade and it's still working good as new. I'd happily get another and always hear good things about their models. Pretty cheap too, although retailers seem to go out of stock quite a lot... which could be a good sign.

Ergotron used to be a big name and we bought a couple hundred for work, but they all broke fatally within 2 years. Very expensive, as well.
I heard they upped their build quality, though cannot personally testify to that.

I'm picturing some kind of General Grievous desk.
From the back, it did look a lot like that!
From the front, it was more like Mission Control as he had all eight above his main PC monitor. To be fair, this was a network-wide system of flood alarms and flow/level monitors, covering about a quarter of England, so fairly justified... but still earns you some serious e-Peen!
