What watch do you wear?

Picked this up earlier this week:

Anyone know where to get cheap as chips NATO straps from? I'm assuming eBay is the best place?
Watchgecko when they're having a sale. A few quid each for some perfectly serviceable and very comfy ones usually at 12 quid.

ebay doubtless too, but you can get some really scratchy materials with rough edges that are a right horror to wear.

Had my LHD Pelagos around 6 months now, still very please with my choice :)

Nice! After wearing my Longines Hydroconquest, which has a harsh-edged crown that sometimes dug into my hand a little, I thought I would want a LHD Pelagos too. However, I am happy to say that the Pelagos crown is just so smooth and comfortable that it's really not an issue and I never even feel it. Plus, as a right-hander it's so much easier to manipulate the crown when it's on the right side.

Picked this up yesterday: Ingersoll Cobham II Automatic

Got it for a decent price (£88) and is my first ever Automatic watch (my other regular watches are a Tissot T-Touch and a Edifice solar waveceptor), the only review I've read of it says that it's ok for accuracy so I'll see how I get on with it. I understand that it's a Chinese watch and that the 'german design' thing is a bit of a gimmick, but the brand and name (Sir Alan Cobham was a bit of an aviation legend) have a nice story behind them so I thought I'd give it a punt.

Only niggle is that the strap is a bit too long. I'm going to have a stab (literally) at adding another hole, otherwise can anyone recommend a good NATO strap that isn't too expensive?

edit: just seen above post reference WatchGecko for straps, I'll have a look!

Power reserve; This is an Automatic movement watch which requires to be worn for period of 8-10 hours constantly during the day. Else it needs to be manually wound for 15-20 turns to keep up with the time.

Sounds like it basically has only a tiny power reserve of around 15 hours or so? Could get very annoying. Good price for an automatic watch though and it looks ok visually. Enjoy it. :)

This review states it has closer to 50 hours, and the reserve indicator barely budged overnight last night. I think it's a caveat so people don't post a moany review on Amazon when their watch stops and they don't understand what an automatic is.

You would be amazed at the amount of people who buy an automatic watch without having any idea how it works. When I picked up a Rolex Explorer 2 a few years ago, a man came into the shop to complain that his Submariner was not keeping time at all and can he have the battery changed. They explained that his sub was automatic and by the looks of it been dropped quite heavily and would need to go back to Rolex for a service at a cost of at least sever hundred pounds. The guy went absolutely ballistic at the cost until they showed him an opened case back of what his watch looks like inside.
