UK newsstands will sell ‘porn passes’ to verify ages under new laws

Come to think of it, I don't really know why watching an adult film collectively seemed like a good idea!
It seems like a good idea at the time and then when you get into the action you slowly start to look around and realise the horrendous mistake you've all made. :(

With that in mind, a 16 year old can drink a pint in a pub if it's with a meal, would the same apply with one of these passes!?

Son, you're old enough now that you came upstairs and watched some porn with your dad. You need to learn how to watch it in moderation before you go off and do it yourself. And don't expect to get any of that Brazilian fart porn, you'll be on softcore until you're 18 and can handle the hard stuff.

I really hope that whatever system they use for these 16 digit cards gets completely undermined shortly after release.

Then they will go after VPNs and probably give them the same treatment despite that it would cause serious problems or inconvenience for people who have an actual need for VPNs or other types of secure tunnelling.

You'll need a VPN licence. All non approved VPN providers will be blocked.

Me too. It's clearly the thin end of the wedge. And porn is bing used because most Telegraph/Mail types would rather vote Corbyn than admit to watching porn.

It's a typical abused of government power led by public shaming and peer pressure.

Cheers, I just won't have a signature if it's that much hassle but the other time I think I've sworn on the forums was in a thread this morning where a guy was trying to sell illegal passports and I called him out for it and reported the thread.
Just report the post and dont post in the thread especially swear in there :)

If its a pass will it be like a cd key type of thing, in which case will retailers be selling them online (and thus negating the point) but also competing with each other to keep the price low? I wonder if they will have a helpline, like when windows fails to activate:D.

So what are they going to do about sites like Reddit? They surely won't block access to the entire site over this and I can't see Reddit being particularly interested in implementing an ID system for the 18+ areas.
