You'll love this motoring fine case

Turn on to the pavement further down the road, mow down a couple of pedestrians, avoid the bus lane and hence the fine. Solved.

He clearly drove into the bus lane, what is the problem with him being fined, he is bang to rights?

A bit silly that there isnt actually a clear way to enter though.

Stay in the non bus lane and turn across it rather than drive down it, presumably as everyone else does without 'risking killing' other people as he puts it.

Surely the bus lane should have started straight after the entrance? Although there's far less chance of the council making money by doing that.

It is an utterly stupid layout. Moving the bus lane down 10m would stop the confusion and also reduce congestion in the right lane as everyone going to the shop could then use the left lane.

Bet they had a laugh the day they painted that in.

Free cash for the council though.

The bus lane is present all the way down that road by the looks of it (on mobile). He should have pulled into the lane just before the turn in, perhaps where there is already a break in the lane for joining traffic - not 40m down the road because he didn't want to wait in traffic a little bit.

ImI not saying it's correct, but he's bang to rights...

In the article the son talks about killing people, how? There are plenty of bus lanes going across left turns where I live, you turn right up against the turn, simple. There’s always a danger that some idiot might already be in the lane but then you get the same danger on any 2 lane road?

Having said the above, I got caught by cutting the end of a bus lane thinking surely it wouldn’t matter but when the fine turned up it showed that it did :D

Why does the bus lane need to start there, whats wrong with it starting after the carpark entrance? Just a council money making scheme.

It doesn't there start, the road markings you have mistaken for the start of the bus lane are to indicate to people leaving the car park that it's a bus lane.
What he did was dangerous, he dipped into the bus lane to avoid the queue and if someone was leaving the car park they would've cut across the bit of the bus lane without expecting a car to detour into.

Looks like he used the bus lane to jump the queue. Albeit briefly.

You are actually allowed to use the bus lane to overtake stationary traffic albeit must be brief (no way adjudicators won't accept it as a valid reason). Or do you spend minutes behind traffic struggling to turn right?

This ticket is ridiculous. I've watched that TV program where they follow council ticket appeals all the way to adjudicators. When it comes to bus lane tickets they take the sensible approach of something like you are allowed to use it for like 10-15m.

That lane is a bus lane all the way along, it doesn't start there, you'd have to be stupid to not realise you've driven alongside a bus lane along the entire road.

Google maps Tesco clothing click and collect to see it.

I suspect he's mostly annoyed at his own stupidity/arrogance and getting caught for it really.
