Well this'll get the blood moving in GD.

1 - write a song with racial slur in it
2 - win Pulitzer prize
3 - invite white fan on stage and shame them for rapping along to your lyrics

Uhhh, k?

I'm actually a big fan of his (I'm white). The whole debate on whether or not to say the n-word is lost on me because I don't tend to sing along to any music, let alone rap. It's pretty cringy hearing anyone from the UK put on a Compton accent and rap regardless of colour.. In my mind that word is either offensive coming from anyone, or not at all. Rappers need to decide if they want to continue glamorising it (and let anyone rap along) or stop using it because it's offensive. One or the other.

Thoughts? :)

Makes my blood boil that does.

If you're going to be offered by it don't use it.

Bet he got a white person up on purpose to be a *****.

Why do white people buy and listen to music with words they cannot sing, if they didn't then it would stop. No black rapper wants the sales from only black people.

I think it causes unnecessary devide.

I'm in agreement with your above statement. It's either acceptable or not.

Definitely stop using it I mean isn't it the same as Muslims using the p word which I've never seen or heard them do.

Ridiculous sort of 'virtue signalling'. If it's the lyric that's why he's singing it. I like rap and R&B and I usually don't sing that word if I'm singing along but I sometimes forget, especially if it's a fast paced song or rap. Should I be sent to jail? Hanging too good for me?

What's Lamar hoping will happen to his own fan?

Wtf

I have no words.
Equal rights out the window.
Sounds like the ord sshould just be banned from music etc.
Otherwise you have racially divisive 'rules'. You can't have rules for different subsets of population. Isn't that why we are moving away from
Feel sorry for the girl!

From just a quick look at the link, I don't think it's to do with he's allowed to and a white girl isn't, it looks more like no-one should. He just asked her to sensor herself and they carried on. Maybe the concert was for all ages or something and he was generally doing 'clean' versions.

If someone was being interviewed on the BBC and they started dropping f bombs, they'd be asked not to and would carry on. That doesn't mean the interviewer is offended by the f bomb or never does it themselves, just that it's not allowed/appropriate for the audience.

Still, don't let that get in the way of your outrage...

It doesn't say in the couple of articles I checked, but to me it sounds like no-one was. He asked her to censor herself on that one word, she apologises, he accepts and they carry on.

I doubt it.
