So the pump has died on the AIO cooler and I've decided to go back to air. My lads pc is running with my old phanteks cooler so I'm looking for recommendation for a good air cooler for my pc.

I'm looking at the black rock pro 4 is there anything else I could consider?

Is this your Enthoo Pro M build? If you tell us what motherboard and RAM you have we will be better able to suggest coolers that will clear GPU and RAM, depending on how tall RAM is.

Hi Doyll yes it's for Enthoo Pro M build
It's the Asus maximus hero z97 board. The ram I can't remember off the top of my head but it's not got high heat sinks. My old phanteks cooler cleared the heat sinks on the ram.

Should be about 91mm center CPU to near side of x16 PCIe socket and 69mm to near side of x1 PCIe socket.
Enthoo Pro M has a massive 194mm CPU cooler clearance so 140mm fan over RAM up to about 58mm tall. :D

Do you still have your Phanteks cooler? Which one was it" What CLC were you using? Sorry for so many questions.

My wife's ordered me the be quite dark rock pro 4 so should be with me tomorrow and I'll get it fitted and put it to the test.

Please let us know what you think of it once installed and working. Might need a couple new case intake fans in front to supply cool air to CPU and GPU coolers when working system hard. I use a cheap indoor/outdoor digital wire lead thermometer to monitor cooler intake air temp. As long a it's only a few degrees warmer than room you are golden. More than 5c warmer it's time to improve case airflow.

I will do Doyll I've got my noctua pwm fans I had on the radiator in push pull I'll put these on the front of the case as intakes

I got it fitted this morning. ( no pictures yet )
so far Im happy with it. idle is around 32c and thats at 4.6Ghz and 1.25 vcore and considering the house is warm I cant complain.

Ive used the thermal paste that came with the cooler. I might upgrade this to a better brand and see what happens.

The included TM is about as good as it gets. Changing might gain you 2c at most and more likey not enough to notice .. unless you get a much better print and based on your current temps my guess is you have a good seat.

If you want to worry about better temps, this basic guide to case airflow and simple airflow monitor tool I made from low cost indoor/outdoor thermometer might be of interest to you.
