My current Osprey Cyber is falling to bits and need a replacement. It was great, only lacking a side pocket for a bottle.

So in need of a tried and tested backpack. Looking for 26 -30L, lots of organisation, suitable for 15" laptop and must have side pocket(s) for a bottle(s). Current likes are the Osprey Pandion and the Thule Crossover. Any suggestions that you have and get on with?

Ta.

A friend of mine started the Riut backpack company, Sarah. Check those out.

Personally, a Kriega for me though.

I have an Osprey Momentum 26

Use it everyday for carrying a 15" laptop and a variety of other rubbish. Also has side pockets for a water bottle. To top it off it's got some ridiculously handy features like a key holder zip retractor thing.

Sounds like exactly what you're looking for!

I've got an Osprey Comet 30. Used to carry more (hence picking that size), however it does take laptop, IAmRunBox and running gear nicely. Means one bag for a single night away and I can still get a run in.

I've posted this before, so it's just a cut and paste from one of my older posts: it's a 15.6" laptop bag that conforms to 20kg cabin baggage sizer allowance limit on budget airliners e.g. Flybe. As well as the laptop, I also fitted in a 10" tablet and a Canon Powershot G1X inside the bag and 3 or 4 days of clothes. I can put a 500ml bottle of water in one of the external side pouches.

Can't go wrong with one of these. I've had mine for years and it still in great condition.

This. I've got exactly the same one and there's a reason you see so many of them, they're damn good.

I spent a week in Scotland last year and this was the only bag I took with me, it's absolutely amazing how much stuff you can get in it, I had two changes of clothing/day, everything I needed including a spare pair of shoes. I even managed to squeeze an extra hoodie and a fleecy lined coat lining in for the journey home.

I've got that Wegner that people rave about and whilst it's still useable one of the rivet hole things fell out of the front and the top strap handle which has a plastic tube over it cracked. I think this was approximately within a couple of years of light use and I'm not ham-fisted.

I have one of those (Wenger in the above post) and the strap has broken waaaay before it should have, which is why I took a look at this thread.

The rest of the bag is good, but I'm unhappy with the longevity of the shoulder strap given the cost of the bag. See pic here:

Something must have happened to cause that. That's not just normal wear.

I use the bag 6 days a week (working days + Saturday), and it's great for shopping after work as I don't have enough eyesight to have a driver's license. I can easily fill the bag with 5 litres of liquid (bottles of pop / beer / other alcohol) plus groceries. Then laptop in the back compartment. The thing must weigh 8-10 kilos when full and it's easier to carry the load on my back than in carrier bags. So again, useful if you can't drive. I've had it since September 2015, so just shy of 3 years.

Had an Eastpak Floid for my daily commute for about a year. It's perfect, compact enough but can still fit a 15" laptop, has a side water bottle holder, three easy access front compartments, a rear compartment for your wallet/passport etc that sits against your back so can't be pick pocketed, ergo shoulder pads, and good quality. All for about £40.
