Hi, thanks for the help on getting me a new card, I bought this one 2nd hand ASUS Geforce GTX 1060 6GB. And its way faster than my 2x gtx 660 Ti :).
I have been spending the last few hrs fine tuning it but hit a brick wall and out of ideas to improve visual effects.
What is better to use a proper monitor or a TV with PC support?

My monitor I was using has the older vga adapter but the card has the newer port so I had to use an adapter 8 x3 pin with slot pin with 4 pins around it if that makes sense lol. But the new card has the modern version of the adapter the same but with out the 4 pins around the bar so mine doesnt fit, thus I cannot use the monitor till I get the new part. However I have a newish ALBA 24" HD 720p TV nothing special just the one from Argos lol. It does have PC support and also has HDMI support, I had a spare cable so hooked em up, straight away I saw a major difference, like playing a newish game allover again like it was new :). With every setting at max and ultra and max distance I still had amazing quality and FPS though I still had Vsync locked on so max FPS was a solid 60, unlocked 60 to 80 FPS, 60 looked better.
On the screen resolution I have an insane amount of levels I can have, my standard one was always 1280x1024 now my max setting is 3840x2160. I have found a balance at 1920x1080.
I am still trying to fine tune the picture, so far I figured out the win7 auto rez set up that has cleared up most of the fuzziness but still needs tweeking. At the moment the screen seems very bright and does hurt my eyes abit, I have tried adjusting the TV and the system settings, but still its just a little too bright, also the letters on desktop, word and browser internet is still a little fuzzy but better than before, is there away to improve it?
Another question, How do I change the Hertz? The max I can go to is 60Hz, I have tried other rez settings but that only goes down from 60 down to 24hz. I have been told if I remember 72/75Hz was better also stopped headaches lol. Do I need a different monitor/TV? The monitor I have is a LG FLATRON W2243S, this is an old one as only has VGA connector. I should be able to do it with the TV but not sure I can. How can I do this?
Thanks for any help :).

It's incredibly unlikely your TV will accept a refresh rate any higher than 60Hz. Monitors tolerate overclocking sometimes but TVs tend to just reject it as an unsupported mode.

If you want to try raising the refresh rate, go to Nvidia control panel > resolution, in there you will find the custom resolution button. This lets you set a new refresh rate and test it. Try something like 65 or 70, if that works, raise it in small steps.

In my experience, things look way better on my 24" monitor than my 48" TV in terms of sharpness and motion clarity. If your monitor only has analogue inputs (blue SVGA D-sub connector or DVI-I), YMMV. Maybe worth looking into a cheap monitor upgrade?

The GTX 10 series cards don't support VGA at all as they don't output analogue signal even though a standard DVI to VGA adaptor.
It only has DVI-D (Digital only) not DVI-I (Digital and Analogue) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface#Connector

You would need a special converter to use a VGA monitor with it, these cost a bit more. This is an example. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sand...er-cable-black-5-year-warranty-cb-04c-sb.html

As for the TV, they can be a PITA to setup due to overscan on the TV.

So to get a pixel perfect picture from your PC to your TV you need to output 720P and turn off your TVs overscan setting, which can be a PITA to find the option if it has it.

Thanks for the tips. I managed to improve my TV screen by 30% from the link you sent, and found some other settings I could use so that helped a lot, Im not going to get it picture perfect due to the screen resolution, but the games still look excellent with picture quality :). I tried Nvidia settings for Hz max on all screen sizes is 60Hz and cant make it higher.

The VGA to HDMI adapter arrived the other day, I tried it on the old monitor although it worked I still had the grain effect on screen and the screen isn't as sharp as the tv, the monitor is over 5 years old and done its job lol and does need upgrading.
On this old monitor on max screen size its at 60Hz but if I reduce screen size I can get up to 75Hz.

When I buy a new monitor are there ones that can give 60+hz on max screen sizes? 24" to 30" is more ideal for me.

Hmm, I managed to find out and unlocked my screen resolution, I did a custom setting, for the current screen size I have now and add it at 75Hz and seems to work.

It’ll just be skipping any extra frames above 60hz.

I’d set your resolution to the native resolution of your TV for the best picture. 1280x720 is the usual for 720p although a fair few TVs use a slightly higher resolution.

Indeed - if you have weird framing effects, try 1366x768. A lot of TV panels seem to use that :)

If you specifically want 75+Hz refresh rate, you're best off buying a monitor that runs at 100, 120, 144 etc. They're available more and more.

I am going to get a monitor, just need to save up for one :), the TV is doing well for now, and much better than my old monitor.
I def need a higher Hz, I been on 60 for.. Since I started on PC`s from the Amiga :). The 60Hz alway`s give me a headache after about 1\2 an hr or so, after speaking to my cousin a few years ago he did mention a higher Hz would help stop this problem, but at the time I could never find a monitor to support a high Hz. Now I have managed to change my Nvidia settings and created custom settings of :- 1920 x 1080 progressive and at 75Hz, I replayed a game at this setting and so far after an hr or so no headaches or eye strain :)

What type of monitor with a good high screen rez with a higher Hz could I use? i have seen a few on the market, but from past experience to get a high Hz you have to lower the resolution.

1080p screens are widely available and 1440p becoming more popular, in high frame rates.

I would say that your graphics card won't drive many current games at 1440p over 60FPS anyway so unless it's purely the monitor refresh rate that helps, maybe 1080p is the way to go?

Yea, looking at 1080p (1980x1080) its a good resolution for me, a 1080p 75+Hz would be great :)
