Hey all, my partner is after a laptop but would preferably like one at around £350. I would look at reviews but they tend to be so biased so I thought I would see what you guys think.

It would be good if it had the below
SSD 128gb minimum
Intel i5 or equivalent AMD
4GB RAM (doubtful she could get more due to limited budget)

Not for gaming so onboard graphics is fine.

That's pretty much it, any suggestions would be great. Thank you in advance :)

there are some good surface pro 4 deals on a certain auction site to be had even found some excellent surface pro 2017 deals also in the higher end of your budget but well worth it.

Also if you are insist on laptops I would look on the dell outlet they have some excellent deals sometimes and they also do student discount and lenovo, dell, hp and microsoft all do student discounts of 10% if I am not wrong and make sure you use a cash back service like quidco they have anything up to 5% cash back usually for certain stores. certain auction site from time to time have 10-20% discount vouchers that pop up from time to time, so you could even make a saving there if you can be patient enough to wait.

Thanks man, there are so many options out there and I forgot DDR4 is out now so it's more expensive. I just want a laptop that isn't too slow where she can watch TV shows, use Microsoft word and have no lag

Instead of buying a low end new laptop your better off getting a refurb. There are plenty of HP Elitebook 840 G3's around with i5 6th gen, 250GB SSD, 8GB RAM for £350 + VAT ish. Most of these have carepacks on so you have 2-3 years warranty left on them too. We've been bulk buying them at work and they are excellent machines for the price.

Does it need to be a windows machine? Chromebooks offer low maintenance computing and can do 95% of what most people do.

We deal with a lot of those HP Elitebook laptops at work and they're spot on for office work and watching a few online videos now and then.

Hi pcfarrar, have you permission to link to a site that sells them?

Thanks.
