Hey,

Some of you have been super helpful in the past in helping me find a build that suits my needs. Unfortunately I never got round to ordering it back then and it’s been quite a while since I was recommended some builds, so I’m asking again so I know I have the best and most up-to-date build with the money I have.

I’m looking to buy a PC that will allow me to play lots of the best games, including GTA V, Fortnite etc at a somewhat good quality whilst being able to stream on Twitch/record for YouTube upload at the same time.

I am setting my limit at £1500 but of course if a really good build can be built for a little less then please do say.

I am not fussed about keyboards, mouse and speakers. I have some bog standard ones at the mo and I’ll look into these later on unless you can include some that are good but not too costly.

I just need a complete computer build, with a case (I am not someone who cares for case asthetics that much, as long as it does the job, is good quality and allows good airflow I don’t mind what it looks like). So a cheap but good case is fine with me. I will need a good monitor but only 1 for now, unless two is reasonable and you can include a mount that I can mount them up both together.

So I have up to £1,500 and require:
- Whole computer build
- Case
- 1 good quality monitor unless you can provide two decent ones and a mount to hold them together.
- Keyboard, mouse and speakers if they arent too expensive

This build needs to be able to run games and stream/record in good quality.

I am looking to buy this ALL today!

Thank you everyone!

Hopefully you have Windows 10 already or can sort it cheap.

With GTX 1070 and IPS monitor:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,418.88 (includes shipping: £0.00)

+ 500GB SSD (Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860 EVO can be found for £100).

With GTX 1070Ti and TN monitor:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,070.59 (includes shipping: £11.70)

+ 500GB SSD (Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860 EVO can be found for £100).
+ 27" TN 2560x1440 144Hz (AOC AG271QX can be found for £350).

Swap the 500GB SSD for a 250GB SSD + 1/2TB HDD combo if you need. If you don't need more than 500GB to get started, then I'd keep it, add another drive later on.

Budget option - lessor board, ryzen 2600 6 core 12 threads (more threads the better for streaming ) & stronger GPU gtx 1070ti, so there are trade offs

I've gone for 2x 1080p monitors . One being 144hz - prob an aweful selection and others would be better . If you are streaming and going to be doing it a lot, two screens !! If not, 1440p as highlighted by danny75 !

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,568.12 (includes shipping: £15.30)

Get a good air cooler like Dark Rock 4 for that Ryzen 1700 mentioned above and clock to 3.9ghz across all cores !
Currently have 4.2ghz across 2700 which is about £259 here

Yes it is an awful selection, you shouldn't mix and match models if they are going to be mounted side by side, not to mention it looks like only one of them is curved, and the other is flat. Eughh... :)

believe both are curved , though no idea on the radius and both use same frame as well as VA style panel but QD would show the difference quite a bit :(

and 1070ti bit wasted on 144hz 1080p :(

was VERY tempting to list 2 MSI VA 144hz 1080p panels for £200 a pop - haha

Both of those monitors are freesync...yet you're getting an Nvidia graphics card ? And I would go for Samsung for the SSD too
I think 1080 monitors are a waste of cash too, better of with 1440 .

Ahhh, I'm so keen to get this but I can't figure out what bits are good and not D:

I am happy to go with one good monitor at the mo with the option to add another later on.

Well I was putting together a nice 2700X build for you to look at, until I realised that I cannot do this since there is no way in hell you should be paying £350 for a 2700X when it is £75 less in many, many other places, what is going on OCUK?

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7GHz 8-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte - X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3600 Memory
Storage: SanDisk - SSD PLUS 480GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Video Card: Zotac - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB AMP Edition Video Card
Case: NZXT - S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: SeaSonic - EVO Edition 620W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

That came to about £1250, leaving you £250 for a monitor. :)

If you do the build, I'll at least know what I should be looking for. Then I can decide whether I get that or other parts elsewhere due to big price differences. But I am happy to get anything else that is competitively priced at OCUK. I hope they don't punish those who wish to save a lot!!

You're going to need a CPU cooler too...unless you already have one ?.

What's wrong with the one in the box? I mean you can sell them for about £30 so I suppose you could buy a different one of your choosing to offset the cost, but it seems somewhat pointless unless you are going to OC the nuts off it, even more so the X model CPU's with the boost doing a great job.

That's fab. I am just struggling to find quite a few of these products on the OCUK website!

I have no CPU cooler. I basically have nothing so I am starting from scratch, though I will be able to put/get Windows 10 on a USB stick I have lying around.

£400+ for a 1080p g-sync monitor.. waste of cash, 1070ti would drive 1080p 144hz monitor well enough not to have g-snyc as frame rates arent going to dip

Never mind - ignore this!

2700 non X. enable P Boost X10 setting and will do 4ghz on all cores with stock cooler :D

@Lola2012 the above you linked, I spec'd that for someone whom had a very good freesync already.
AMD cards still heavy in price at the moment- saving grace is that freesync monitors are half the price of nvidia g-sync ones . depends on the user at the end of the day

serious about streaming , you have 2 monitors. want the best quality then you add in a capture card , making money from it you have a second rig with capture card in it :D

spec's here listed highest thread count to combat lack of capture card etc

I am just so eager to order this, haha.

But I have no clue when it comes to what works best with what and what requires CPU cooler etc. Hoping there will be a build that has all I need and a good single monitor that I can click on the products, add to basket and get it ordered before cut off times D:

If your 100% solid on a single monitor that helps a lot as can allocate budget onto good single monitor or else where in system, but again highly recommend 2nd screen even if you got an old one laying around!

would push for the Ultra and 2700 combo - look afterwards if you've got the X to squeeze max cash out . gtx1070ti will help maintain minimal lowest frame rate when streaming/recording - nothing worse watching someone when frames drop up and down lol - nice smooth playback :D

dont rush.. worst thing - honestly . ou'll get your system, just take some time etc etc

Yes, but non-X is £20 less than the 2700X (most places), and having the XFR2 boost to 4.35GHz, vs 4.1 on the 2700 is blooming helpful, and you get the much more awesome cooler :D

Well my plan is to game by myself for a bit, enjoy it before jumping into streaming. That way I think for the first couple of months I won't use or need a second but would like the option to do so if needed. I do have a really old monitor lying around somewhere I haven't used in years, Iiyama Prolite HD I believe. It's old but its fine and clear for browsing, watching videos etc.

But I am not obsessed with the monitor, I don't want a terrible one but I wouldn't say I am someone who obsesses too much over how it looks. So I think a middle ground with monitor quality and price is fine, as long as it's good enough when it comes to streaming/recording.

I was looking at your original build above, the quoted monitor in it, would that be fine? I believe without that second monitor it'll be around £1400.

I was wondering if there is such a possibility to get a half decent one for £1200-£1300 if someone only had that budget. I have allocated £1,500 for the build, so that isn't an issue, I just want to make sure the extra investment produces noticeable quality than if one only spent £1200 - £1300 on it. I just want to be able to play most of the new games at a good enough quality, like GTA V, Sims 4 and extra packs (my partner will want to play Sims 4 a lot as she loves it!), games like Skyrim at good quality and so on.

I completely understand, the issue is I am going on holiday abroad Monday for 2 weeks and want to get this delivered before so I have it to build when I get home and won't have those holiday blues towards the end because I know what's waiting at home and it'll feel like Christmas! But I do get what you mean. Though having seen you around here for a long time and see the builds you quote, I would honestly trust your recommendation.

But if you have a recommendation, that you can finally do with the information above, knowing the extra allocation, I am sure I will go ahead and purchase it (you should get commission!). Just as long as it includes everything one would need to build a computer from scratch when all they have is the keyboard, mouse and speakers! I have a USB stick, if I upload Windows 10 on it with the Boots tools etc like I would if I were installing it on a computer I've just formatted, would it work ok? (I know how to change the computer boot if it needs to load the USB first etc).

Also any tools you would recommend? I have micro/pc screwdrivers. Have no grounding bands or whatever, having done much with computer builds in 8+ years! I assume someone with a little knowledge shouldn't have an issue building it. I do somehow have patience when it comes to building and I imagine there are plenty of videos online or help in these forums should I get stuck?

Thank you!
