Hey all.
My partner pretty much only uses her laptop for Sims 4. It's never been amazing but has worked well enough for her needs but lately the system has become so slow.
Every time she turns it On, it seems like Windows does some sort of update ritual which takes a fair while and doesn't seem to do anything. Then next time she turns it On, it seems to just repeat the same process.
Steam checks and updates each time she turns it on too which also brings the system to a complete halt whilst it sorts itself out.
I kind if think it may have all been related to an upgrade to Windows 10 back when that was a thing. It's a fairly old laptop but if I could somehow get it back to a fair standard for her and this one game it would save buying a new one though I would rather just do that if it was mine.
Laptop is a HP dv6, a quick Google suggests Windows 10 upgrades have caused issues with switchable graphics or something too
