Seems to be missing a lot of information - this would be a fairly standard NDA for an industry partner but doesn't look like something they'd send to a reviewer as it would make the whole thing pointless.

As I said in the other thread, this seems very harsh, but it is meaningless without knowing what they normally put in their NDA's, it might only be a small change, it might be a massive one. Without reference to previous NDA's we just don't know.

I think that's part of the problem. I assume that an NDA usually applies to a product, such as an upcoming GPU but this one seems to apply to everything relating to nVidia.

It's basically saying you can't talk about or speculate about anything we (nVidia) might do or say for the next 5 years. Very strange.

Yes an NDA would usually refer to a specific product or information specific to a certain topic - it isn't always date limited though. For say an AIB this kind of NDA wouldn't be unusual but seems odd in a journalistic sense - it would even go against statutory law in some jurisdictions if it was wide reaching and open in scope.

However further down on the source article it seems to pertain expressly to confidential information that has been given purposefully to reviewers, etc. rather than any and all information. Need a bit more clarity really - it could simply be nVidia protecting themselves before giving reviewers heads up on things like release dates or it could be trying to control the press which would be a very bad thing.

Are the Green Team trying to quash the increasing noise of displeasure at their current lackadaisical attitude?

Can't complain about missing cards and overpriced 10 series if you're legally bound to shut up...

any truth to this and I will never touch another NVIDA product again. Things like this should be against the law. Really wish AMD and Intel could get their act together and make a competitive GPU.

EK LOlzzzzzz

I am not sticking up for Nvidia but that article also states that EK is trying to get people to sign 10 year NDA's (double the length of Nvidia's) with financial penalties if broken yet I don't see any outrage over that.

Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill. This is a typical NDA and expected. Surprised that people are getting all "toys out the pram" over this.

However is not about future leaks, but current products also like the eg 1180.
Something like the GTX970 scandal wouldn't be able to be reported until September 2019!

And this is Hilberts' reply (Guru3d) on my question about the GTX970

Good example as at that time, similar generic NDAs also were in place. And no, as you have been able to learn, all media posted about it, including this website.

However we learn long way after the shorter term NDA had expired not in 2014 when the card was out and got reviewed.....
So I stand correct under the new longer NDA we wouldn't be able to find out about the 970 until Sep 2019.

Especially since only a couple of media outlet said they wont sign the new NDA and all mainstream have, so they could receive their free cards.

Lets not forget the cherry picked GTX580s & 680s. Which were operating at higher speeds on the reviews.

Since the EK news came out, I do boycott them. However on that market, there many competitors to pick products. On graphic card marker are only two.

Is this an NDA for indistry partners, looks very standard to me.

For reviewers it doesn't make much sense, but there would be no need to sign one if they don't mind waiting to buy their own review card. And infact the subs will give them cards anyway

Well as you seem to know more about it than me and some others, best you don't buy NVidia products in the future.
