FIFA World Cup 2018 - Round of 16 [30th June, 1/2/3 July] **spoilers**

You needn't worry about England winning it. Heck I'd break my no gambling rule and bet you £20 here and now England aren't winning it.

I happen to disagree that there's even a reasonable chance of England winning it.

As soon as they meet a half-decent team in the knockout stages they lose. It's just a pattern that's held true for years now. A well-established pattern.

Listen, I'm expecting Columbia to knock England out, but if that doesn't happen I'm sure either Croatia or Sweden will. My safety net is that whoever wins the top half of the draw will likely have the firepower to embarrass England should they somehow reach the final.

This isn't "loving to hate", this is just reality calling. England as a team just don't achieve; probably aren't good enough.

Know who else just didn't achieve until they suddenly did? Spain.

I'm not saying England are going to win it but saying they have no reasonable chance is just silly.

England are good enough to beat any of the teams left in our side of the draw, we'll be favourites as far as the betting line is concerned against any of them.

Providing we don't pull a Spain or an (almost) Croatia and actually go for it i'd be happy even if we got knocked out.

Judging on performance of the teams still in it throughout the competition so far, everyone can beat everyone. It's been a really random tournament so far and can see that tend carrying on too.

Edit: as the betting side of things you may as well put teams in a hat with 90mins extra time and pens added to the hat and draw for team and method. That's how random it's been lol

guys, talk to me about Brazil. Have I got them wrong?

That depends on what your opinion of them is?

Do you think they are a decent team spearheaded by easily one of the biggest ***** in world football who someone should kick so hard he end up in the middle of next week? Do you think that they would probably be better without said **** because he thinks he is bigger than the team and is a selfish and greedy little troll who would be better off passing to his team mates more often.

Coutinho has been their best player by a mile but I don't think they will win the tournament.

He does love a barrel roll, he'd probably have scored more goals if he just stayed on his feet.

He's a **** but they definitely wouldn't be better without him.
As was quite vividly shown at the last World Cup. It looked like some of his teammates idolised him as much as the fans (yes I realise Thiago Silva missed that match too, and probably the bigger loss, but still!)

I just keep hearing the pundits bang on about how Brazil is leagues ahead of anyone else in this tournament. Just can't see it myself. They've been very average imho.

France and Belgium for me.

Yeah can't disagree, i'm not convinced Brazil will get past Mexico.

Brazil obviously have some outstanding individuals but they also have some dross. Danillo isn't good, and although others might disagree i'm not high on Casemiro either.

Everything is impossible until it's done.

Indeed, also gets kicked all over the pitch although fond of the dive.
