Has anyone used both of these? Does the high speed version run as quiet as the regular PWM version at lower RPM, with the difference simply being that the high speed can ramp up to 2200RPM if required, vs the 1450RPM of the regular PWM?

I can't seem to see an RPM range either, so I'm not sure if the high speed won't like low speed very much.

Hello mate.

I have the 140mm Silent Wings 3 and there super quiet. Max RPM are 1000.
 
Hi, yes i have both.

The standard ones spin up to 1000rpm and the high performance ones spin up to 1600rpm. I use 1 high speed for a case air intake and it's currently idling at 525rpm. Pretty much identical they just have a higher top speed.
 
RPM for RPM they are pretty much identical with one capable of higher RPM.

I'm not overly impressed by the amount of air they push for a given noise level mind compared to some of the other alternatives I've been using but they seem to have higher quality control but more crucially I find the Be Quiet! the easiest of any fan to tune out and stop hearing if they are audible.

I replaced a load of Apache Blacks with the 140mm Silent Wings 3 recently - personally I prefer the Apaches for performance at a given noise level but the quality control was annoying me - I had to sort through a load and discard the ones that were rather average noise wise to get a set that were properly quiet and after a year or so some of them start to sound like they are running off centre - so eventually after playing around with various fans including the Be Quiet! and Arctic F series (which are pretty decent) I replaced them with the Be Quiet! fans.

Silent Wings 3 120mm are 250rpm to 1450rpm +/-10%

The 1450rpm model is probably fast enough, but considering they both perform the same at same rpm and have same price I would get the high speed model just in case higher speed is ever needed .. that way in very hot weather with dirty filters running high loads you can speed them up to keep things cool.

Wrong size fans, we're talking about the 140mm versions.

No idea why you think it's about 140mm fans. Thread title says 120mm and Legend's links in opening post are are to 120mm fans.
But same logic applies to Silent Wings 3 140mmfans as their 120mm fans with 140mm fans having rpm ranges of 200-1000rpm and 200-1600rpm

all are damn quite unless you whack High speed verison about 80% then it does become noticeable but the amount of static pressure and airflow it pushes is amazing!

Whoops my mistake sorry. Replied to a few threads talking about these fans, must have got mixed up.
