Have to say, although it is a bit clearer, the colouration of it seems bad. Seems very dull/flat.

My TV comes up declaring an HDR picture, but if I flick back to regular Sky/TV HD, the picture looks far beter - More contrast/colour.

I've noticed that on some camera views, the picupic quality is higher than others. Mainly the studio cam but I guess that's to be expected. The BBC are using a special type of HDR algorithm they say on the FAQ page. Could be that making it look dull?

I've tried watching the BBC 4k HDR stream a couple of times and while the picture has been really clear the biggest problem is the transmission delay. The last match I watched the stream had 60 seconds delay, and that was without any buffering, which meant the push notifications my phone was receiving was prewarning me of any action well in advance of seeing it on TV.
Switched back to the normal HD OTA transmission for every game since.

We had the same on normal iPlayer this afternoon, could hear the neighbours cheering a good minute before we scored.

I've been watching in 4k (non-HDR - using a PS4 Pro). The quality is great, even without HDR you can see every little detail on the grass and faces.
The delay wasn't too bad, I could cope with that.
However yesterday everything was fine up until about 10 minutes into the second half and then I got some buffering, then a little more and eventually we switched to an HD feed elsewhere. Of course I'll never know where the issue was - my internet connection or problems at their end.
It was fine when the games were less important, but had to sacrifice quality for ability to watch yesterday.

Cut out during the last 5 mins of the ENG vs SWE game, but then the whole iPlayer site was down and the BBC Football page video as well.

The bitrate isn't great for a lot of the shots during the match but the studio shots look amazing.

Colors are a bit weird but it's a clear step up from traditional broadcast and a decent first attempt by the BBC.

Still has to be better than the blurry, low-res mess I was getting when watching the Euros a couple of years back.

And that was on a good connection too. :p

I've been impressed with the HDR, once I had a fiddle with the TV colour settings. Found the slo-motion shots almost unwatchable though - I assume the resolution of the feed for those is low and whatever upscaling algorithm is used tried its best but didn't do a great job

Hmm odd... As it looked absolutely amazing on my LG OLED55B7V. Flicked back to normal BBC HD on sky and
usually the picture is fine, but you could clearly see the difference. I agree with the slow-mo shots,
that was a bit painful and felt like loads of ghosting was going on.

Yep, Looks amazing on my LG OLED as well.

Parents have the 65B7V... do you just load up a game on iPlayer and wait for it to work, or is there a special broadcast?

I tried to watch a match replay on iPlayer the other day (to show them 4K) and even though they've got 60MBps, it looked awful.

Yeah built in iPlayer app on my Samsung MU7000 and it gives you the 4K option. I thought all the games looks great, and switching back to HD looked distinctly average! Just a shame about the delay.

Yeah that’s what I tried! Is there an option or does it just auto detect?

There is an option, but it won't let you replay stuff in UHD as it was just for live broadcasts, but the final will be on Sunday so you can watch that (as England game is on ITV).

You can also watch Wimbledon in UHD through the app. Just load bbc iplayer, select the wimbledon stream and it will give you the option of UHD, HD, SD. Only 2 days left to do this though, as the final is also on Sunday.

Always plenty of youtube videos available to show off uhd and hrd too :)
