need to send tv back to amazon

Thought delivery was 'free' on big items ?
But this is a disadvantage of Amazon versus a bricks&mortar JL/RS store - do wonder about their warranty repair service too.

As darael said, could have presented your dislike as a fault .. banding/light-bleed/tuner insensitive/viewing angle, to justify a return, and say don't want another since may be bad too;
but depends how long you've had it...
...".I just visited a friend with same set and this is poor in comparison."

hi peeps.ihave to send a 55 inch tv back to amazon as they said I have to arrange courier.
any recommendations on the couriers that handle large tvs.

This happened to me with a high priced and large monitor.

It seems this is how they do things now.

I went onto their live chat and told them of my concerns of the damage to the screen and how this isn't generally covered.
In the chat session the agent told me not to bother about that but just return the item in its packaging, which I still had.
They, Amazon, would accept full responsibility if there was screen damage, or any other transit damage, and that would not affect my refund etc.
I then sent it as they suggested and emailed myself a transcript of that chat.

I know that when you arrange a courier, I did mine online, you have to tick as to what you are sending. Just do not take out any expensive insurance to cover for any potential damage as Amazon will not cover that cost. Again that was told to me in the chat session.

Hope that helps.

All worked out fine - for me anyway as I got my refund, and the refund from the cost of the courier when I emailed them the receipt.

As mentioned earlier it was the same for me although they did cover the additional insurance for me. They told me that there was no maximum for cost of postage, simply select a courier from the parcel2go website. So it may well be different instructions depending on who you speak to.

I think that it was useful to add about the live chat and the option to have that chat session email back to you. If only that it offers peace of mind that Amazon has you covered. It is then their choice and responsibility if they wish to take out the extra cover or not.

IIRC the monitor cost me over £800 and yet they still did not want to take out the offered insurance cover when I told them of the cost.

I also used parcel2go.

Indeed. For me it was more peace of mind if the TV's got lost given damage to TV's isn't covered by couriers on parcel2go. I'm sure they would have been fine, but would rather not risk an argument over their chat logs.

so these, like OP, were both non-damaged articles you decided you did not like ?

No, both my LG TVs were severly broken. Second set was a replacement. The first had a bulging/buckled bezel that was so out of shape you could see behind the screen. The second had a smashed screen. So unfortunately I had no choice but to return the TVs. Was a pain as I wanted the TV, although I ended up with a nicer Samsung set from a high street retailer.

In both cases Amazon were using the same courier and may gave been why the boxes/outer packinging was so damaged.

That said the reasons for the return are academic. As someone who has been through returning a TV to Amazon recently I'm posting from experience.

well - not exactly , that was the point I was making ... if someone else is underwriting the risk , versus yourself paying

[its a simialr issue getting insurance by removal firms against transportation damage exhorbitant]

Amazon are covering the costs and risks of the return. So if the Op wants a refund this is the process that needs to be followed. In that sense the return reasons don't matter.
