My monitor has suddenly gone really bright and all the colours are washed out and everything I do seems to have no effect. I am unsure if this is a hardware or windows update issue. The picture is still sharp and clear just really bright and photos don't look correct. I have not changed any of the on board settings and have tried everything from changing colour profiles in windows to uninstalling the monitor but nothing works. My second monitor is fine and photos look correct on it.

I tried plugging my laptop into the monitor and it displays photos correctly (not washed out) which makes me think its a windows issue. But the laptop uses HDMI where as my main pc uses DP so I cant be sure.

Last night my machine updated to : Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4338819). Could this have something to do with it?

How do I completely reset my drivers and display settings for this monitor?

The monitor is a electriq eiq-34CMUWQ60GAFS

I am at a loss here ?

im gonna assume that you are using an nvidia gpu, if not correct me, but going by that your gamma and/or brightness setting might be completely off and if thats not the case then somehow your dynamic range has been set to limited.

first to check is is dynamic range. nvidia control panel -> Change resolution -> scroll down and look for Output dynamic range -> make sure its set to FULL.
second would be to check the menu option called "Adjust desktop color settings". Make sure for gamma is 1.00, brightness 50% and contrast 50%. Report back if you had any success.

This is looking more like a hardware fault on the monitor. I booted into Ubuntu from usb so totally different drivers and it was still the same. Tried a different Displayport cable and it was the same. I then booted back into windows and used an HDMI instead of the DisplayPort cable and the colours were fine but i was limited to 50hz. So looks like this must be an issue on the monitor to do with the DisplayPort. Looks like i am going to have to try and send it back! Has anyone else seen something similar to this?

Try another GPU via DP. You said it looks fine from your laptop via HDMI?

I dont have another GPU with a DP to hand. But i got another monitor with a displayport it was it was fine with my GPU so it has to be the monitor. Dam!

Juts to update this. The monitor was fine after i did a factory reset on it. Its still going strong. Decent gaming monitor as 60 fps is still good enough for me
