Leg broken in 12 places and laid up in hozzy!

I've been told it could a year to get my leg as normal as it can be, it all depends on how well rehab goes for me. Still can't put weight down for another 5 and a half weeks.

No point flipping my lid at the end of the day it won't get me anywhere and I'm doing my best with the pain killers, frustrating thing is I can't manage my physio without at least the tramadol which I'd rather not take at all.

Really? Cause the that is 100% absolutley what I would expect a matron/nurse/your mum to say to a broken leg if you were looking down.

After they 10 minutes earlier they had missed a smashed tibia plateau and amongst others things? Struggling to see how anyone can defend that, I'd be interested to hear someone try though

Anyone spec me some decent YouTube channels to keep me entertained?

Try GustavAdolphusRex for some seriously good Baroque music. Periodic Videos is an interesting take on the periodic table, covering the elements one by one. The King of Random gets up to all sorts of stuff. Primitive Technology is what it says on the tin.

Cheers guys hopefully give me something to do

If you fancy some interesting ww2 and falklands stories watch:

Clarkson war stories: The Victoria cross (Battle of Arnham)

Raid on St nazaire: The greateat raid of all

Falklands: The most daring raid

I'm glad you are wary of tramadol. Trying to get off it is not fun.

Whats ridiculous is they keep offering it to me at night when I don't need it but forget it when I need it in the morning etc. I'm hoping the fact I refuse it when I don't need it will stop me from getting stuck on it.

Okay so now I'm pretty ****** off!

Red sore patch on my injured leg I've been complaining about all week and have been told its nothing... New consultant takes one look at it and is highly concerned its a deep vein thrombosis. Queue going for another scan and god knows what else.

I'd ask how so called trained professionals could miss this despite me bringing it to their attention numerous times but hey I'm at the Liverpool Royal.

Sorry to hear that. When my daughter was born we had something similar (different hospital). We kept asking the nurses to check why the baby's heartbeat was stopping. We were told it was just the monitor belt repeatedly slipping. Eventually we mentioned it to the doctor. He checked and within minutes my wife was in the operating theater having a c-section due to the cord being stuck around our daughters neck.

Colin furze is pretty good if you like all sorts of weird stuff like jet engine go karts and such like, Get well soon dude and keep the chin up

Cheers mate, that primitive technology was a really good shout. Interesting as hell. Thanks for the other suggestions too.

Find myself watching a lot of ted talks, the future is really playing on my mind today especially. How do you know what you want to do with your life when you have no idea what would make you truly happy specifically

Try not dwell too much Vidar.

My old boss (even though i hate the ****) told me a phrase that has always stuck with me, I think its a Carroll quote :

"if you don't know where your going, any road will get you there".

Its a bit nonsense really, but also in times of uncertainty quite comforting.

Do you have a laptop with you? If you're looking at a career change then maybe some of the online education videos are worth a look, someone else on here landed a job after taking the HarvardX CS50 course on edX for example...

for interesting stuff check out some of (the late) Hans Rosling's videos:

also there are loads of videos from Penn & Teller's TV show "bull****" on youtube etc.. (can't link here due to obvious swearing)

It's funny you say that actually it's basically what the ted talks have said that I've watched today. Don't worry I'm not dwelling on things just being mindful of changes I need to make in between episodes of Luke Cage and chapters of star wars books.

It's funny really I've decided I have absolutely no idea what I'm passionate about, well other than my fiancée and kids, and that's okay I just need to start taking opportunities that come my way. Then seemingly at random my fiancée tells me that my future step father in law who's very high up in BT has offered to put his name to my cv if I'd be serious about a career change to get my foot in the door with open reach. It could be the first step on a new road I desperately need.

You should have a good long talk with him about possible options for your future. He may mention possibilities that you haven't imagined.
