Definitely a database issue which OR can easily rectify. Most definitely not something I would sit on my arse for 'Openreach to update details at their end'...
It needs escalating which you have done, hopefully BT/OR will resolve it sooner rather than later.
VM is an option if it's available, I would try search start of your postcode/town on the VM forums - just to see if there are any complaints about congestion/utilisation issues as it can be common in some areas of the country.
Either way, I'd still get Openreach to resolve the database record so you have the option there for now or future choice. I find VDSL much more reliable, better ping times and more responsive than VM's network.
