Any particularly exclusive restaurants in London most people haven't heard of?

In b4 Take her up the Gherkin? Oxo tower? [insert innuendo] etc..

this might fit the bill - haven't been here myself though do intend to at some point as it's had good reviews

only seats 9 diners and you get a set menu, very well reviewed, £300 a head , so I guess fits the "exclusive" criteria.

has been there for a while but if you (or more importantly her) haven't been there before then it could be a novelty, can eat there, drink at the bar etc.. very unusual toilets shaped like egg shells

The Ned is a good place 5 differnt restaurants (American grill, British, Japanese fusion and French or Italian I think) few nice bars in a huge old bank beautiful building .


The Delaunay is smaller and quieter but the food is amazing. The guy that runs that runs a few places (zedel and the Worsley and something else iirc).


If you want exclusive in London though you're basicaly limited to members clubs/resturants which obviously you can't just go to on a one off.

Anywhere decent in London has a following simply because of how many people are there.

£300 for sushi? Can’t see how anyone could pay that.

Reading on trip advisor, it seems though the average bill for 2 is between £800-£1000 :eek:

All for a bit of fancy cut raw fish and rice. Wow, how do they get away with it.

I’m sure a foodie will be along shortly to label me an uncultured peasant :p

Is it for a group or just two of you? What do you want to eat? Le Gavroche is pretty special. Hakkasan and Yauatcha are good too. TBH I’d pick pretty much any two star place and go there (apart from the Ledbury).

If you’re with a group it would be worth looking into a private dining room at either a club like the RAC or East India or perhaps think about Rules restaurant.
 
Gauthier Soho was fantastic last time I went there. I'd recommend it for an intimate dining experience.
 
There are three restaurants that come to mind for me when I’m looking for a smart place, with good cuisine, and a relaxed ambience, Sauterelle, in the Royal Exchange Building, at Bank Junction, between Cornhill and Threadneedle Street.
Coq d’Argent, virtually opposite, on the top floor and roof of # 1 Poultry, remember to say Coq as Coe, not Cok, as in Coq au vin, as the q in Coq au vin is followed by a vowel, but in Coq d’Argent by a consonant.
Last but not least, the consistently excellent Le Pont de la Tour, in Shad Thames, Butlers Wharf, Bermondsey.

Why does anyone need to experience over priced pretentious food at any point in their lives? And I use the term food very lightly.

He didn’t say that anyone needs to experience overpriced pretentious food, he said that everyone needs to visit an expensive restaurant once in their lives, maybe to see what all the fuss is about.
Just because a restaurant is expensive, (in anyone’s opinion), doesn’t mean that the food is overpriced and/or pretentious.
