Which small/medium SUV?

As per my other thread I am having issues with my Golf. Once fixed (or once I rage quit) I am probably going to be looking at a small to medium sized SUV instead. The kids are 11 and 14 now and really like their friends SUV's for space in the back.

I'm probably going to avoid anything in the VAG group. My current mk6 Golf was very poorly made in comparison and certainly never as reliable as my older Golfs. My wife now seems to have a strong objection to anything VAG this time around.

So what would OcUK Motors suggest that's similar in size and price (or cheaper) than a Tiguan or Q3? I'd probably be leasing. I've never looked at SUV's so don't really know what's good and bad in the sector.

Thanks.

I think the Kuga is similar in size. I wouldn't buy it for interior space however as personally I found it too small when we hired one for a 1 night away with a 4 month old.

We actually filled the boot & had to put stuff on the rear seats, didn't seem any bigger than a Focus apart from more head room.

It wasn't much better fuel consumption wise than my ST220 on the motorway either which I thought was shocking for a 2.0 Diesel (but much better around town)

Qashqai. Or something Korean.

Thanks.

A friend has bought a Skoda Kodiaq.

Now my mrs wants one.....Its better than our MB GLA

Thanks. I was actually tempted by that but... VAG.

Similar in price... new?

Yes, because that will (roughly) translate into a similar lease price (I know it's not that simple but my point it I'm not looking for a Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover, etc).

I may be wrong but I kinda think Skoda get 3rd generation stuff. Starts with audi then gets down to VW then when all/most kinks are ironed out it goes to Skoda....

Most things are :p
Yeah I hear ya loud and clear

I'd imagine a Q3 would be a terrible size. I found the Q5 to be pretty small as it is.

Quashquai or whatever it is is probably a good shout here. Or an X-Trail is probably better.

Struggling to see why an suv is required other than 'cos my kids want one'. If space in the back is important why not a larger saloon like a mondeo, 5 series or e class? Heck the superb is just that, it has great rear legroom!

don't buy a kuga their garbage,

missus has one. poor boot space, rubbish economy out a 2l diesel (all the ford diesels are rubbish in fairness)

kodiak is a decent shout, as are any of the Korean white goods 7 year warranties and they do what they say on the tin, quality maybe not as good as you'll find elsewhere but they do a job.

Nissan x Trails are brilliant cars for 7 seats and also recently bought a Qashqai which I have to say has amazing space in the rear seats as obviously they only have 5 seat model. Nissan is also nicely trimmed on the inside
