All my music is tagged by mp3tag so no problems there. What's the best way to copy it over to the 32GB SD Card I'm using?

1 - Copy the folders over directly to the card.

2 - Copy the mp3 files straight to the card without folders?

3 - Does it make any difference whether I do 1 or 2? Is there a limit on how many mp3 files you can have in a folder/root?

Depends on device but I use artist\album\track number - title.ext

If your MP3 player scans the card it does t matter but if you need to use sync software then that software will copy music it's own way. I use rockbox players so seen as a hd then scans files

I'm guessing you're planning on playing them on a car headunit as this is motors. In that case, it depends on your headunit. Some older headunits have a limit to how many it will play in a folder. Most modern ones don't care though.

I'd just copy them with Artist/Album folders then it's nice and tidy and should play on 99% of headunits.

Is this for playback in a car, if so I guess it depends on what car you are driving, for example my 3 series BMW needed all the files to be in the same folder to randomly play all the tracks but my Focus doesn't need that and will randomly play tracks from different folders.

Yeah really depends on the headunit, my one from 2010 takes a USB stick or SD card but it's limited to 1000 files which is quite annoying. Need to either just try it or read the manual.

Yes, for playback in my 2016 Skoda Fabia. I'll try both ways and see what happens.
