Hoping I can get some advice from you guys on this, I've got a holiday booked with the other half to Zadar later this year, and I'm after advice on activities.

We have 4 days there, and I've booked a day out on a boat to visit the Kornati National Park for one, so looking for further suggestions.

We're staying near the Old Town in the city, and also have a car available as it was somehow cheaper than transfers. I've been looking at day trips to Plitvice or Krka parks too?

Firstly congratz on picking such a fab place to go on your hols. I have been going to the ex Yugoslavia every year since 2003, mainly to Montenegro but I have seen some of Croatia and BiH. As you have mentioned the national parks are outstanding. Take boat trips to the islands. Enjoy the food, pivo and people. I have to wait until Sep. for my holiday! :/

Prijatno! ;)

A visit to Plitvice would be my recommendation.

I'm presuming you'd prefer not to do another island visit given that you have a car, but you can also easily get to Sali on the neighbouring island of Dugi Otok, which encompasses the Telascica nature park. If you fancy something more active/thrill-seeking rather than sights-based, there are possibilities for paddle boarding/kitesurfing lessons near the village of Nin, around 20mins drive from Zadar. For example: http://www.surfmania.hr/index.php/en/. Or you could try bungee jumping from Maslenica Bridge, which would be easily reachable - if that's remotely of interest. Can't recommend that personally, but the operating company are reputable judging by the reviews online.

Zadar is enjoyable to wander though, give yourself time. The centre isn't large and not the most impressive in terms of having many outstanding sights, but it has plenty of charm and the sort of place you can easily while away an afternoon in the multitude of outdoor cafes and restaurants. Enjoy!
