What watch do you wear?

I wonder If the heritage comment was more in relation to the fact that Oris do not make their own in house movements? Typically using ETA or Selita. Until very recently at least.

For what it’s worth I like Oris. I do think twice about paying in excess of 1/2k for a watch with an ETA movement, as that’s where I’d see the worth of an ETA. Which put Oris in a well priced bracket. Seem like very good watches at a reasonable price.
Oris do make in-house movements, just not on the lower end of their range... same with Longines etc.

Good article on in-house movements here... https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/letter-from-the-editor-has-in-house-movement-become-obsolete

I was excited at the speed my new watch shipped from Japan, sadly UK customs had other ideas.

I guess they're just double checking everything, annoying as it is, hopefully won't be too long a wait.

Deciding how much tax and duty to add on I guess. Not sure if Parcel Force send a letter for payment online/over the phone, or like some turn up at your door with it and demand payment.

Edit - looks like they send a letter and then I pay online. I factored in the import duty and tax so I was prepared for it at the time of purchase. If I got lucky then it would be like an unexpected discount.

I fancied a change from the Seiko Diver for work, but also something that could be worn when out and about / travel so this went for the Archimede Outdoor protect on the steel bracelet. Just need to get it re-sized this weekend so no-wrist shot just yet but I'm very happy. I'll try and get a lume shot when it gets a bit darker.

My Seiko SARX057 arrived today, the tracking said customs charges raised but they delivered it without taking any payment, there is a sticker on the side of the box that says £170 was due, VAT only and a handling charge, no duty. Will they chase me for this?

The watch is stunning, but sadly there is a bit of dust or dirt under the crystal glass. I have emailed the seller but not sure what he will do, return shipping to Japan is very expensive. It may be cheaper to get a local watch repairer to clean it? I will see what the seller suggests first.

There is no duty on watches so that's correct (there is, but it's so tiny, they don't collect). But you may get a bill later for the vat and handling fees, depends on the delivery company.

You could try and get a partial refund to cover the costs of what you'll need to do?

Yea the bill from ParcelForce arrived today, it says they won't release the parcel until I pay so they have messed up.I imagine if I don't pay they will send a debt collection agency after me. I read about their added on fee being illegal but not sure if the law has changed on this.

I was thing the best bet will be a local watch repair company, then send the seller the receipt for a partial refund. He probably won't get back to me until Monday and I won't get the the local jewellers until next Saturday. It's a Rolex/Tudor/Omega AD so I'm hoping their in house repair guy will be decent enough.

Any recommendations where i can get omega seamaster planet ocean , ideally the blue face 37.5 mm

Seriously wouldn't go there for a job like what you're describing. You'll be taken to the cleaners.
Join TZ-UK and ask for recommendations on there - it's a very useful forum for finding well-priced and good watchmakers, amongst many other things. They may have suggestions for your local area, or if not, there are some highly recommended members on there who you can send the watch to to get the work done.

With sterling being as weak as it is, you would be better off picking one @ airport in the UK.

37.5mm is s good size for a watch, but I don't think it works well on a PO. you would be much better off with the 39.5mm version

Thank you, i did not know there was a 39.5mm which will suit my wrist better as i have a longines hydroconquest of the same size

I have 2 model numbers , 1 for steel as 215.30.40.20.03.001 and steel on leather 215.33.40.20.03.001
Both look good , do you have any idea if either of these i should be able to get under £3k ?

Thank you

I usually wear my old steel Tag F1 for general use, and my PVD modded Rolex Milgauss for best. Although it's causing me issues at the moment because the crown tube is sticking.

Under £3K is gonna be tough.

I have seen unworn selling for circa £3.5K
