One thing about poorer countries is their different choice of cars, I love it. Even in South Africa we have some of the coolest cars around, in most first world countries like here all we have is the newer stuff outside of enthusiast circles.

Agreed - it’s also amazing how they keep producing ancient cars for so long - you can still buy a 1992 Nissan Sentra brand new here.
I was actually thinking about going to S.A. next year (not just for the cars!) but recent news is putting me off a bit. I like going off the beaten track when on holiday, and whilst I’m not afraid of a bit of risk, I have quite enough opportunities to get killed over here without adding to them
So it is! Never seen one like that before, I love it
I haven't seen one either and tbh thought it was something cobbled together at first but I did recognise the front grille and lights. A quick bit of google-fu and it's a proper thing!

Jeep made all sorts of things like that back in the 50s and 60s, not too many survive really.
I was at Haynes Breakfast Club this morning so saw all sorts of cool stuff, might stick a couple of them in here once I've edited my pics although I don't really count events as 'daily encounters'.

Seems 1 has dropped out of the top 10 now. Though all their major cities are in the top 20. Mexico City doesn't appear until 25 and the next one is Guadalajara, which ranks better than Birmingham lol

Latest data set I can find shows 32 murders / 100,000 population in South Africa, vs. 21.5 murders / 100,000 population in Mexico.
Friend of mine emigrated from SA to UK once he had kids because things were getting so bad, but he did live in Johannesburg, so maybe it's a bit worse in the city.
