GT86 - Flat Battery after 2 weeks...

If the batter has lost its charge already, I'd imagine i will already be running like this.

It's probably not dead enough that the ECU would have lost it's settings, just dead enough not to be able to crank the engine.
Regardless, it's a bit of a moot point, as if you can't crank the engine, you can't drive it and see if it's idling erratically anyway :p

I honestly don't know how cars are even allowed to leave the factory with defects like this. It's 2018 ffs

A lack of proper testing, I guess. The weak battery was never an issue for lots of owners, including me, who drove the car regularly. My car (2013 model) was perfect for 4.5 years and never failed to start.
The problem only cropped up when I stopped using the car daily - left it for just over a week, battery too weak to start. I've since bought a Bosch battery and haven't had a problem since, even when leaving it much longer.

Just like everyone else, day to day is fine. A long weekend away and the battery dies. Leave inside lights on overnight and battery dies.

I bought jump leads ages ago and kept them in the boot. The battery was so dead on Monday after I left hazards on for 2h by mistake, that ironically none of the electrics would even come on and allow me to open the boot! I am not aware of a mechanical way so someone tell me if there is a way.

Anyway, currently sat at my dealership to get a new 65ah one installed. Paying for the labour but don't have to worry about disposal I guess.

If you can use the backup key blade to open the car manually, you could get into the boot by folding down the rear seats. Not sure if there's a mechanical release.

Done. Paid for 30 minutes labour admittedly, but the battery price itself was only £74 incl. VAT. They told me if I had taken it away for fitting myself, it would have been £88 incl. VAT. Anyway, I paid for the service but at least it's saved me some hassle and disposal cost of the old one. Next long weekend away is in two weeks, so I will know upon return if turns over this time!

But shirley this is only kicking the can down the road? All it's doing is giving whatever's draining the battery more battery to drain, which means you're simply delaying it. I would've thought that going after the cause would be more logical, wouldn't it?

(i am not familiar with this at all btw, just guessing here)

From reading around, it seems it is the alarm which is quite power consuming. If that is indeed the case, yes, the root cause isn't being fixed.

There might indeed be some parasitic drain causing the issue, but given that the bigger battery means it isn't really a problem for me anymore, I'm not really going to spend time hunting it down. And my car's out of warranty now. I'm not relying on the car for work or anything, and it's evidently able to enough for sit for 1 or 2 weeks without any problem, and I rarely go without driving it any more than that.

So basically, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I guess.

And don't call me Shirley
