The answer is indeed yes. However, there is a slight snag. Ray Tracing. IMO RT will be the new "tessellation" of gaming. Where by the end of 2019 we might start seeing it here and there in future game titles. How much, back porting older games, etc is still anyone's guess. Unlike AMD, Nvidia has plenty of capital to invest in backporting RT if they so choose.

The reason why I suggested backporting older games for RT is because they aren't going to release a new high end part "RTX" without some sort of game support. Sure, I believe there are a few games in the works even at the time of this post. However I'm equally sure they want to show something "now". A backported game with RT support would probably be the quickest option for them. And I wouldn't be surprised if Unreal Engine will be the pathfinder for it.

more or less what I expected. 1080ti + 15% was my prediction. +8% sounds crap but the driver refinements will improve it over time, as with the 1080 v 980ti.

will get a 2070 for sure.

V64 Devil is at at £449 at OCUK with £100+ worth of games with it. (AC Origin etc).

Is cheaper than the GTX1080s par 1, and cheaper even than some V56s and 1070Tis.
While is with the nitro+ the best custom V64s.

Yeah I noticed, sadly it’s a 3 slot card, I have a mini itx case and it just wouldn’t fit. I do fancy that gigabyte vega64, if it fits...
 
Someone from Nvidia leaks something to an AMD fanboy channel (weird in itself) and everyone goes crazy!

Also why was anyone expecting a 2080 to handily beat a 1080ti. Surely that's what the 2080ti is for.

I can't imagine there'll be any backporting, What's the point, it's a forward looking tech & they'll be focused on upcoming games making sure everyone on older Nvidia tech and AMD tech looks on in envy at the 10 to 20 additional frames the new cards keep getting in one release after the other from ray-tracing, They'll be focused on that not last years titles.

Well the GTX 1080 was 20%+ faster than the 980 Ti at launch (comparing reference to FE) so it's logical potential buyers would hope for the same improvement. Depending on pricing it may interest me, looking for a card to run Witcher 3 at 4K so I can finally play the DLC's at max settings on my TV (the 1080 Ti can achieve this well enough so anything even a tad fast should be enough).
