** AMD FRIDAY: VEGA 64 & CPU BUNDLE DEALS / DISCOUNTS & FREE STUFF **

Powercolor and Sapphire are the two better brands from what I hear, although probably nothing wrong per-se with the Gigabyte.
Thanks. Was wondering since I have 3 monitors and the Powercolor has 2 DP, versus the Gigabyte that has 3 DP. I know I can run one on the HDMI but not sure if that would make any difference compared to the other two then.

Card released for £450 1 year ago..... "Deals" are bringing it back to "release" price...... Yup nothing wrong there

PS. nvidia's pricing is also a joke

GTX1080 was released 2 1/2 years ago....

Yup and it's pricing is a joke too...

The Vega 64 Red Devil was never £450, There was a very limited run of reference Vega's on release that may of been that cheap but I can't remember the actual price at the time. I think the first Red Devils to come to market were north of £650 & from then they continued going up. £450 to £500 is what the Vega 64 Red Devil should have cost and now prices have finally gotten closer to being reasonable getting one with a £450 price tag and a 3 game bundle is a good deal, Taking the games into account we're looking at a £350 price tag which is good imo.

No it may not have been but vega 64 reference was £450 on release 1+ year ago....

£500+ would have been good (well no, still not really as even back then £450+ for vega 64 was too much but I digress....) if the powercolour was released at the same time or a few weeks after but it wasn't released for months..... The reason they went up (along with all other GPUs) was because of mining and retailers/manufacturers then gouging as much as possible but as per usual, only the consumer is to be blamed as they are the ones that supported it by buying in droves :o

No idea how people can defend or/and think these are good prices now, at this stage now, prices should be considerably less (for all GPUs). Back when the 290(x) was nearing the end of its life, they were being sold for £250 or less AND bundled with 4 games.

And supposedly the games can't be sold on....

Actually you cannot sell the games to anybody. There has to be someone with AMD card in the specific promotion to tie them directly to uplay via the AMD card registration page.

Even if they could, good luck getting £100+ for them, you certainly won't on here, £80 at best is what people would offer, which would then make the GPU more appealing. Still, it's a shame that you have to factor in games to get a GPU down to what it should already be.....

You are not comparing like with like. AIB cards are always more expensive than the Reference cards for AMD. You also forget that that £450 price was one that was subsidised by AMD and only available for a limited number of cards at launch. And it wasn't 1+ year ago, Vega 64 hadn't even been launched yet. It will be another 3 days before Vega 64 is a year old.

Your comparison with the 290 cards isn't really valid either. Mainly because, as you say, they were nearing the end of their life. Are the Vega cards nearing the end of their life? There was also the fact that Nvidia released the 780Ti just after the 290 launch, then 10 months later launched the Maxwell cards, the 970 and 980, the 970 been launched at amazing price. So AMD had a massive price cut shortly after that and then had another price cut shortly before the launch of the 300 series cards. Which were really just rebranded 290 cards.

In today's market, £450 with 4 games is a pretty good price for an AIB Vega 64 card. Until Nvidia release their next gen cards and Vega is close the end of it's life, it will probably be the best deal you are going to get.

Sorry 3 days out from 1 year.....

And yes, it's not like for like but that still doesn't change the FACT that vega and all other GPUs should be a lot cheaper by now. Before the mining boom and retailers/manufacturers realising they could get away with over pricing GPUs, it is guaranteed that these cards should/would have been at least £50-70 cheaper at this stage (especially nvidia's cards)

When I said 290, I was referring to the point just before the 970 came out, so not quite end of its life but near it (from a performance POV). Either way, can you see vega 56 dropping to <£250 come that point? Let me answer that for you, nope.

People keep saying in "todays market" to try and make current prices sound good, sorry but just no..... In no world should these be considered good prices especially when they are "deals". Tech. evolves and as they get older, prices should be continually dropping, especially when coming to 1 year old.

Who knows, maybe when nvidia cards drop in the next few weeks, prices will drop even further (without them being "deals") ala what happened with every previous gen.

As it is, I would much rather buy from the MM than support these inflated prices.

No one's saying the pricing's good. It's as good as it's gonna get. However, How much does a flagship gpu sell for mid life? Vega may be a year old but from what we know we have another year before it gets replaced. So how much did a 780ti or 980 or 7960 etc cost mid life? Use how long they were the premium card and then look at the price, As for not selling the games, A lot of people won't care. Personally I'd keep all three as they look worth a punt and if they weren't given to me with a card I'd likely buy them anyway so even if we only discount the saving from Assassins Creed it still drops the card down to £400 and for a mid-life flagship it's not bad.

Just bought the Vega 64 devil to go with my new build. Decent price and should go nicely with the 4k hdr Freesync monitor i ordered.

It will serve you well. I am using the card both on 2560X1440 (XL2730Z) and on the bedroom TV (55NU8000), and with Freesync on both is superb. Just activate HBCC and make sure you have good rated cable. (DP1.2 or DP1.4)

It could get a whole lot better if people had will power and voted with their wallet.....

Again when I talk about being near the end of its life, I mean more from a performance POV, technically vega 64 is really 2+ year old now as the 1080 has offered that performance since then.....

Personally never heard of the 2 other games and I already own Assassins creed origins, great game but a bit late now.... Also, even if you could sell the game, you wouldn't get £50 for ACO. The last few on here have gone for £15.

You demand from AMD to sell cheap their card, yet you only put on two huge posts a tiny line for Nvidia.
May I remind you that both GTX780Ti/Titan X and GTX980/980Ti/Titan never saw price drop even when their replacements were already in the market?
How many here were expecting every single time for price drop when next gen came out and that didn't materialise?

Especially the GTX780Ti was greatly inflated after the 980 came out.

Yet GTX780Ti today is at the bottom of the performance next to GTX1050ti, while the 290X (8gb) is beating even the GTX1060 6GB and some times the Fury, sitting squarely on the upper mid range even 5 years later.

Good to hear. The DP cable was an after thought when i ordered will make sure to get a decent one.

Vega is not EOL. And you talk about performance point of view, yet you ignore the fact that the new NV gpu prices will be way higher than the cards are replacing.
So Vega 64 price is fine as it is atm. GTX1080 prices & GTX1080Ti prices are not. Especially the latter if rumours are correct, need to drop 350-450 in price right away. Do you see Nvidia partners halving the price of the Ti on Monday?

This thread is about AMD cards, not nvidia hence why I'm not mentioning nvidia much....

If it pleases you, I will once again, reiterate that nvidia card prices are also a joke for pricing. Search nvidia so called "deal" threads and you will see the exact same about nvidia gpus with no mention of AMD......

And as was discussed not so long ago, the 780ti and 980/ti saw big drops not long after the new cards were released, someone even posted their invoice on here showing that they bought a brand new 980ti for £350 2 months after 10xx was released.

Until the cards are out, lets just wait and see, we have had this time and time again, "AMD cards going to offer 1080+ performance for £300!!!!!" "nvidia cards going to be £700+ for 980 performance!!!!!" and so on..... come the time, it's been the complete opposite.

And lets not turn this into an AMD VS nvidia war....

My main point is, gpu prices ALL ROUND suck no matter how people try to spin it.

@Nexus18 , the game isn't Assassin's Creed: Origins. It's the one coming out later this year, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. Strange Brigade is a good one too, a four player co-op in the vein of the Vermintide and LFD franchises but set in a 20s style Indiana Jones Egypt with mummies and giant scorpions ect.

Good to hear. The DP cable was an after thought when i ordered will make sure to get a decent one.
Get a rated one. Not any generic one because is expensive.
Initially had used the one with the monitor but had issues like flickering. Matt (AMD/LT Matt) said back in 2015 to everyone to buy rated cables for the Freesync monitors. I did so, and everything was perfect.

Imho get DP1.4 rated one since there is no much price difference between DP1.2 and DP1.4 rated cables (DP1.4 2m rated goes for £13, or £17 delivered), and new Freesync 2 monitors are coming with DP1.4

Whoops, my bad :D

Saw the origins and thought it was AC Origins :p

That sweetens the deal a bit more then! Still, would be great if you could sell the games on.

Yeah, having the ability to sell the games would be a big boost (to lower the cost) but Strange Brigade and Odyssey are both really good games (from what I've seen anyway) and certainly better value than Nvidia offering the Destiny 2 pack which'll need the expansion in less than a month.

I'm this close to getting the Red Devil but I want to see if anything is going to get shaken up, price wise, with the expected Nvidia announcement on the 20th. Knowing my luck the RD will have gone back up in price by then :O

I don't think that's the way to look at it, With the Free-sync, G-sync segmentation of the monitor market a Freesync owner like myself is likely to have close to another year before there's any sort of meaningful replacement for the Vega 64.

Just bought the Vega 64 devil to go with my new build. Decent price and should go nicely with the 4k hdr Freesync monitor i ordered.

I just folded and bought one as well, I would've ended up buying at least two of those games & once the card's here I can sell my 480 Red Devil to cover a bit more of the cost meaning that in theory I'll of upgraded for under £300.
