surprised there isn’t a thread on here already about this as it’s gone pretty viral.

Here is a link to the full OP

Basically what has happened is a Indian gentleman (10year veteran) went to log into his origin account and couldn’t. So he got In touch with EA about this and provided them with transaction ids, game keys and order ids.

EA proceeds to say that no traces of his account exist anymore (even receipts of payment((absolute ******** as that would be illegal on their part to delete))

They also claim that this isn’t their responsibility and the transcripts between this gentleman and EA shows that they don’t care at all about what’s happened to him and how they are completely unwilling to help.

Have a read of the full article it’s blood boiling.

I lost my EA account, did not have a massive amount of gaems i am glad to say, but they said they could not find my account as well, it magicaly disapeared, never gone back strangley enough

Yea no doubt the one issue I’ve had with origin was that if you link PayPal to them there is an exploit meaning if someone can guess your email alone and spend a bit of time they can exploit a loophole and buy loads of stuff with your PayPal VIA origin without either password to their account.

I have a thread about it on here somewhere. But yeah you know full well I don’t have any payment information saved on there now. Il just be using pre paids or a third party for any buys there ever again.

As disgusting as they are the masses continue to feed them £££, that includes myself with buying fifa every year. It’s easy telling people to just not buy but when they have the rights to some of the biggest franchise and games you enjoy playing it’s never going to happen.

Yeah I agree I think the only thing that would convince a lot of people is if this happened to them. However bad publicity is still bad publicity. Even if it only directly lowers their sales 0.01%. It’s still a lot more money than fixing this guys problem would cost.

This is a crazy story. They should keep records of every account deleted. Because they don't, I see how they can't willingly give anyone free games who claims to already own them. Plus the billing team should be separated from the account and be able to use transaction ID's to find purchased games, even after an account is deleted.

If they handled these things correctly and didn't link everything to ones ID, this could have been fixed sooner. I see they have offered him all the BF games back on a new Origin account though.

The problem with offering him the BF games is that’s not ALL of his games and purchases. He should get back everything he has bought.

I agree 100% and EA need to change things up on their side. If they don't have any transaction history for him, they can't verify his purchases.

Something somewhere needs to change, or these accounts need better security. How easy is it for someone to request deletion of your account? I guess it's not easy? Otherwise we would have many more of these situations.

The thing is they can’t have deleted all of the purchase records. They have to keep them by law to prove tax accountability ECT. They are either operating illegally on their taxes or they have them and don’t want to fix the problem.

And yeah I can’t imagine it’s easy but I also cant imagine it’s necessarily hard if you have known the person for a while and let’s say had a falling out with them.

EA are a big part of the reason the games industry is going to ****.

Avoiding buying anything from EA.

I agree :) Ubisoft are in part responsible too mainly for the practice of over hyping/falsely advertising/“downgrading” however, of late they do seem to have taken note and are atleast somewhat on a better path than they was.

I always prefered the steam program over origin but gave kudos to EA for their support.

My previous interactions with them had always gone well.

I read this reddit post yesterday morning then logged into my origin account to play some battlefront 2 (its double XP weekend).

Next to most of my games it says "Your origin access has expired. Renew or buy the game to continue playing."

The like of battlefield 3 & 4 I had purchased many years ago, way prior to 12 months ago when I purchased a years access.

I contacted support, their response was to renew access or buy the games, even tried to sell me premier.

I asked why should i re purchases a game I had already purchased many years before access was even a thing.

They suggested the same thing again.

It was only when I had a looked at the order history on my account and started quoting order numbers and purchase dates I got anywhere.

They said they needed to delete the games from my account and re add them.

They tried adding just the base games without the DLC, and then they couldnt confirm if any progress in online games would be saved or not.

I can't see how that's even legal tbh. You can't sell people a product under one set of terms and then totally change it and ask for more money years down the line.

The E.A customer service dragon rears it's head yet again.

Will they ever learn.

I’m convinced they’re going to start selling customer service as a DLC. Then offer it as a premium early access for a monthly fee so you get access to it two days before everyone else who needs it.
