EA deleted someone’s origin account with $xxxx worth of games on and won’t fix it.

To be fair the guy he was talking to will not have any authority and can only tell the customer what he sees on his screen. If he sees no account, what can he do about it? I'm guessing now it has gone viral EA will give him some or all of the games back to save face. Also not sure what him being a veteran has to do with anything?

Just something he mentioned in his op. thought I would respect that :)

Edit : also the guy he was talking too could have quite easily escalated it instead of dismissing it. In fact, all of the people he spoke to could have.
 
I had something similar happen when they rolled out Origin and my pre-Origin account "vanished" only when signing up again with the same email it re-added certain things to the account but not my old games while support denied, denied, denied even though it was obvious that something wasn't right/bugged with the new account.
 
Can't he sue EA in a small claims court?

I think situations like this need to be challenged, as the more people buy digital products the potential for this happening is going to increase.

I also find it unlikely a company like EA fully wipes accounts.

Im not 100% sure as I’m guessing he is still living in India, I don’t know how their systems work.
 
I stopped using Origin period after BF3 was released. A few of my friends accounts vanished overnight and I eventually found out through steam that one of them had been 'renamed' or something. Either way EA were just ignorant to their cause and that made me uninstall Origin and never look back. I'm glad this indian guy's case blew up the way it did.
 
My origin account had its email changed somehow :/

Got no help from support had to buy bc2 again.

But lost anno 2077 and a few other games.
 
Looks like this has now been resolved

Update 8: Sarah from EA has helped me in getting my soldier ID back (FlyingOfficer) and added most of all the games (Except for Battlefield V Pre-Order) into my new account. She has also provided me 12 months of free Origin Premier membership ( I didn't ask for this). Although my stats history is gone I am quite satisfied that I got my soldier ID back. Waiting for them to restore my Battlefield V Pre-Order.

Hmm well I haven't logged into my Origin account for years. Just tried and it's still there, although the only games are Dead Space 2 (was free) and Mass Effect 3 (only bought it on Origin as I couldn't buy from Steam).

Haven't bought anything since ME3 as I just don't trust them!

Glad it's fixed but just goes to show that you've no hope unless you get further up the chain. You'd think they'd be able to run a query against historical names or email addresses in their Database quite easily. If not, look at logs for historical transactions. Mental.
 
I always avoid EA games if I can. Worst publisher as far as I am concerned. I still get to play the games I want, they just don’t get any of my money :p

Much rather support devs and publishers that deserve it.

I just stick with Steam, never had any issues. All my games in one place, no need to install anything else :)

Problem is big developers are all trying to pull publishing of the new games from Steam and launch with their own platform.

There's a rumor going on about Bethesda not going to launch Fallout 76 on Steam but on their own launcher like EA.

Guess they want to be like EA and be anti-consumer for the sake of getting bigger cut of the pie...
 
My EA account disappeared, tried about 5 times through the customer service to sort it out and nothing happened. Sent emails made phone call etc a complete joke.

They don't get my money either. I feel similar with them, but not as bad as EA. No need for Uplay.

As I don't play online hardly at all these days I am not at any companies mercy to install their own launchers.

That is another reason they won't be getting my money for Fallout 76. I have no interest in that game anyway. To me Fallout = single player experience.

99% of the time no steam means no money from me.

The problem is that you'll miss out on games if you're resolute in avoiding everything but Steam (not taking into account gog's drm free alternative). Enjoy Mass Effect? Only the first two of the trilogy are on Steam and you'll need Origin for three. Same goes for Dead Space. And if you buy something like Farcry 4 I'm pretty sure that although you'll own it on Steam it'll still use the Uplay launcher to load/access the game. I feel like it's a binary choice of all in or all out, with the games you want to play dictating your choice of launcher service.

Only I dictate what games I want to play, no one else. There are many other ways to get to play them if I choose to do so. I never miss out on playing what I want to play. From my point of view the opposite is true, it is a binary decision for publishers, do they want my money or not :D

I am happy to support devs and publishers who are not anti-consumer. Last I checked I have around 450 games on steam.

CAPCOM have been behaving well lately and I am happy that they remade Resident Evil 2 and it will be on steam. Will likely be picking that up from GMG at full price soon to show them my support :D
