So I have virgin media as my broadband provider and my super hub 2 is in modem mode with a netgear router providing wifi etc.

The Netgear router is getting on abit and is starting to require reboots to sort out juddery videos after it's been on for so long.

Can anybody suggest a replacement wifi router?

General setup is

2 x pcs wired
1 x Xbox 360 wired
3 x Now TV boxes wireless
2 x tablets wireless
3 x mobile phones wireless
1 x laptop wireless

It's been awhile since I have bought any networking stuff so kinda out of the loop to what is good and what is to avoid. I use my super hub 2 in modem mode as wifi is terrible on it and will randomly disconnect wifi devices for no reason.

What about chatting Virgin up for a replacement hub with more modern wireless?

If you do want to buy something you'll need to specify how much you're willing to spend.

I had spoken to them about it but this is not something they support (so I was told) which is why I used a spare Netgear router to make sure it was the super hub.

Looking to spend about £50-£60 but these days don't know what is a good mid Range router and price. The thing I have now cost about £30 many years ago .

They don’t support providing you with a current generation hub? They aren’t usually shy about giving them away.

£60 doesn’t get you much nowadays, especially if you’re expecting decent Wireless AC support.

I use an Asus AC86U with my VM hub3 in modem mode, always used Asus routers, just for better stability and performance and I like to fiddle in the array of settings.

Seen as you have a Netgear you may prefer to stick with that brand, I have heard the Nighthawk R7800 is a decent router as well.

I would at least try the SH3 for free from VM before spending your own money on something. Its not going to be ground breaking wifi but should do the job in most cases.

cheers for the replies all, I'll give vm a call and go from there but after another price hike I am thinking of going else where now.
