That's because people are stupid and don't understand the point of this alpha. Its an A-B test on weapon balance.

HOPEFULLY will actually give the game a ww2 look and feel.
People generally don't understand the purpose of alphas heh... that said its pretty poor when on the like 7th iteration of a game using an engine the alpha still has issues like a small drop = instant death or vehicle flipping over, etc. and despite protestations otherwise its still present in some form come the next alpha and the next and then the beta then the open beta and then the retail game and maybe gets patched a year later in the retail game... and then rears its head again come the alpha for the next game, etc.
I don't get the way some recent WW2 games have tried to depart from the WW2 look and feel which is pretty established and just works - some recent ones and the screenshots for this look like a sci-fi shooter at first glance.
I don't get it myself, i know dice said this is "their take" on ww2 but they also said that about bf1 and that looked like a ww1 game. Weapons and vehicles aside you would think this is a random game using ww2 era weapons as it looks nothing like ww2 (with the current map and character presentation at least). You see the end game screen and you have germans with weird looking face masks on that look like Jason Voorhees and you're left wondering wtf are Dice employees doing recreationally.
presumably this:![]()
Anyway, roll on the beta. Bit of luck it changes opinions for the better.
But then it wouldn't be a true A-B test would it as there would be other variables. They have said that the beta will be a new build of the game. The alpha is purely for weapon balance. Its that simple.Makes little difference, they could have easily put the fixes into a newer client on a different map and released it as a teaser closed beta for a few days which overall could have given a better impression of the game. I see plenty of negative comments about the game and comparatively few positives, and thats across several forums not just the official feedback forum.
Maybe the beta will be a big surprise and feel pretty polished with a lot of the complaints taken into consideration. They're releasing a trailer for rotterdam tomorrow so presumably that will be the beta map which HOPEFULLY will actually give the game a ww2 look and feel.
To be fair you always complained about bugs and 'netcode' etc in every Bf thread as far back as I can remember. While others, myself included doesn't suffer from such issues, or certainly not as frequent. Maybe the issue is your connection or PC.People generally don't understand the purpose of alphas heh... that said its pretty poor when on the like 7th iteration of a game using an engine the alpha still has issues like a small drop = instant death or vehicle flipping over, etc. and despite protestations otherwise its still present in some form come the next alpha and the next and then the beta then the open beta and then the retail game and maybe gets patched a year later in the retail game... and then rears its head again come the alpha for the next game, etc.

Tbh I'm not sure why you two bother playing it, all you do is whine.
In an interview with Gamasutra, EA chief creative officer Patrick Söderlund says that the developer is uninterested in taking flak for diversifying the gaming space. “We stand up for the cause, because I think those people who don’t understand it, well, you have two choices: either accept it or don’t buy the game,” he says. “I’m fine with either
And I'm guessing that's the BR mode shown at the end, with vehicles as well?
I know that DICE aren't aiming for a realistic WW2 shooter, moreover just a WW2 based shooter, but as a WW2 game purist, all bangy crashy buildings falling down ridiculous holo scope rip offs just kills it for me unfortunately. It will be good at what it does, but I need to look elsewhere such as Rising Storm 2 for a decent realistic WW2 shooter.
