Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

They'd still want to sell the cards, if they pump up the pricing then sales will slip. AMD can at least offer some token competition with the RX570/580 and Vegas so it's not like they can do whatever they want.

I'm pretty sure the RTX is going to be big bucks, significantly more than the 1080 on launch. After all, it's not just the latest Geforce GTX incarnation....the G has changed to an R, it's a whole new level of shiny that you absolutely must have!

I reckon £750 for the 2080 £550 2070

I am going to try to be positive and go for £650....... I am more interested in the AIB cards at any rate, and depending on when they come out, I MAY try to stay strong and wait for black Friday. I got a smoking hot deal from OCCUK in black friday 2014 for my MSI GTX 980 that i am still rocking now, (and then another fab 8 pack bundle on black friday 2015.

overclockers seem to do well on black friday.

I wonder if overclockers will have stock for the launch or if it will only be nvidia selling them for the 1st month or so?

I suppose @Gibbo will know already the answer to this but may not be allowed to tell us.

It's just not worth worrying about at the moment. Let the No Deal threat on the pound dissipate, the pound bounce back a but and the dollar weaken a little, give the new GPU's a little time, and a new graphics card purchase will feel painful, instead of mortal.

You're right...must have been a moment of temporary insanity on my part.

Although it's a shame that as a community (consumers in general that is, not this forum on it's own) we can't show a little restraint for a month and just not buy. If no new cards were purchased because of the prices, Nvidia would soon get the message.

Given that I've had my 980GTX since it's launch and have saved money by skipping a generation, I'm happy to pay whatever for the next gen if I get the same value for money. My guess is that this is the manufacturers thinking but also their undoing.. With each new release, there appears to be less reason to jump and buy each time. It didn't seem that long ago when other hardware and software pushed graphics cards to their knees inside 18 months. This clearly isn't the case so much now. If the cards were half the price, then i'd more likely to but each new release .. but charging double for one card is more profitable then charging half the price for two over the same period.. if you see what I mean.

they cant price them too high... the biggest market is the mainstream market ( around £300-£400 ) a lot of mainsteam buyers can be tempted to up to £500-£550 if the product is worth it but if they start selling at £650 then people will buy old stock and AMD and they will struggle ( Ti Versions of course are soley aimed at enthusiasts so different market )

Instead of arguing over pricing this time, can we just copy and paste a load of threads from around the time of the 1070/1080 release and paste them in new card threads once we know the price? Will save everyone the trouble of repeating the same old posts :).
